Had been hearing about this new brewery through the hop-vine.
Went to check it out on a chill Wednesday. First off the place has a laid back vibe. Nice couches that beg a sit and the brewery itself is viewable in the back. The glass window front that lets you take in a great sunset are what makes for a great vibe. The bar is nicely done with enough seats to actually give it social relevance. The appeal of a more high end experience is nice for a change. That being said they will be charging more for this aesthetic.
The service was friendly and accommodating, no snootiness on my 2 visits. Unlike some of the reviews who were probably just bitter because the female staff didn't flirt with them.
The beers do cost more however in my day I've had very average domestic beer for $4-$6 and I will say if the price hits you they have package beer to go. Moving on, the IPAs are all New England's and anyone who hates that really isn't a beer aficionado. The haze craze isnt going anywhere and they have some great juicy doubles. The pastry stouts were incredible as well. At 10.1% you aren't leaving unfulfilled. Now the sours- oh my my. They have done their homework and it shows. They are lipsmackingly delicious. If you are done with ho-hum goses and underwhelming sours, then these are what the doctor ordered.
Overall, yes the beers cost a bit more, but in my opinion the vibe, service and quality are truly what gives XÜL firm footing in the Knoxville scene. They might have have a limited number of beers but they all deliver.
They also have various food trucks parked outside to blunt the blade of an afternoon bender.
