This old house is kept in great shape & have staff on site to take you on guided tours. They do a tremendous job of pointing every interesting detail. My daughter's bridal shower was held there & it was decorated beautifully. She and her grandmother did the guided tours for years. My daughter began going with her grandmother when she was just a child & absolutely loves this house & knows everything about it. The guide is very well versed in the history of the home & it makes for a great tour for everyone plus a great place for a school field trip. The house is decorated with the furniture that was there from the very beginning plus clothing the residents wore can be seen. This is definitely a "don't miss" historic house.

We read in the book that they were open at 10:00 AM for tours. When we got there, there was a note on the door saying they would be open at 1:00 PM. We got there at 1:00, waited until 1:30.
We called the phone numbers listed. No answer. Because of our schedule, we could not wait
longer. At one of the other places we visited, they told us this was very typical of this location.
You would think during their peak month for tourism they would be open. We wasted an entire day to visit several of these places and all but two were closed, either because they weren't there or were closed for renovation.

We visited this historic home in Knoxville as part of the Civil War Trails' 150th Anniversary Celebration. Our tour guide was a walking encyclopedia of Civil War knowledge and trivia. He brought out many lesser known facts regarding the Civil War and brought history to life.

The website needs to reflect the 2013 calendar. Otherwise, the trip was worth the go. It is a beautiful memorial and the tour guides are very knowledgeable.
