Be sure to visit the sun sphere. It's free and there is a 360 degree view of Knoxville and the Smokies

“Nice park, free view from Sphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2011

A little piece of history, how often will you get to go to where there was actually a World's Fair?
The park is free and it's a nice place to walk around, take some photos, maybe even have a picnic.
The sphere is free and it has some cool history items you can read and gain some insight on Knoxville.

“Money saver”

If your budget is tight and need somewhere to hang out. World's Fair park is the place to be. It has a really cool playground and of course the water fountain. There's a huge grassy area for picnic, etc. The water fountain/stream near the Amphitheater is really nice, great place to take pictures. Going inside gold ball is pretty cool. The view is pretty and it gives history of the World's Fair park. Plenty of Tennessee brochures inside the gold ball. Parking is free, you have to walk a 1/2 block; however, there's closer parking at the restaurant which is now out of business, which is right next to the playground. The downside to the park were the locals, I wouldn't visit that place at night.

“Great place to get wet and cool off”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2010

This park is built on the grounds of the 1982 World's Fair. A broad center green is often used for outdoor concerts and such. A wonderful splash pad shoots great abundant streams of water into the air -- perfect for soaking every square inch of one's body. On downstream, in the shade of concrete structures and the sunsphere, one can relax by waterfalls in the man-made stream. Though the park is located within a very urban area, one can find peaceful relaxation among the water -- both still and living -- in this park.
There is also a nice playground with a couple of unique pieces of playground equipment. This would be an ideal place for families with young children to spend a few hours for fun -- all absolutely free.

The only downside is the parking. It's at the far end of the park, and one must walk a few hundred yards from the parking lot to the park. It's not too bad, but it may pose a small nuisance to those with very small children.

Restrooms were pretty convenient to the center of the park and seemed to be well maintained.
