Ijams has numerous events of interest to us - hummingbird bandings, owl prowls, wildflower walks, etc. Great indoor displays that are well kept up. Lyn Bales is the naturalist who writes a blog regularly with literary references, his color photos, and a sharp view on most everything in nature. Paul James is the executive director who has numerous projects like passenger pigeons. The recent addition of Ross' Quarry is a must see. Some events have a fee, free usually for those with a membership which we do.

“Nature on display -- and to enjoy”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Just a two-mile bike ride from the World's Fair Park area. A nice respite among beautiful natural habitat.

Birding, eco friendly displays, great stuff for kids, quarry, hiking, walking, biking, canoeing -- all great stuff!

“A hidden Jewel”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

My boyfriend took me here a few months ago. My kids had been on school trips, but I had never been. I was surprised by all that it had to offer! We just did some hiking by the pond and the river...but I saw all the bikers and the trails and there is just bunches to do! You can bring your dog which is a plus!

“Beautiful place to get lost!”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Ijams is a perfect place to go and hang out. There are tons of trails some of which are paved. It is crazy that this place is just out of the heart of donwtown but seems like you out there deep in the woods. Very nice place to visit as seem to always have guided walks and events going on.
