Ijams is a perfect place to go and hang out. There are tons of trails some of which are paved. It is crazy that this place is just out of the heart of donwtown but seems like you out there deep in the woods. Very nice place to visit as seem to always have guided walks and events going on.

Ijams is a real nice place to get outside and hike in a secluded place near the city. It is just a few miles from the city, but feels very isolated. Great place to hike, bike, or kayak.

Lovely area for hiking, looking at wild life exhibits, or to have a party in an outside space. Refreshing place to spend a few hours any day of the week.

Our family had driven by the Nature Center and had never been inside; we finally planned an outing there and just were blessed at what we were able to see: lush, forested/wooded trails (some paved and some unpaved) and scenery at the boardwalk that was breathtakingly beautiful...especially after a huge thunderstorm passed over us! We hid in a cave-like area for shelter and ran through the rain after the lightening show passed us AND tstill had a magnificent time! Clearly the beauty of this great natural setting is popular with anyone who enjoys the outdoors for good reason. :-)

We started at the visitors center and immediately were drawn to the lily pond in front of it. It boasted numerous small toads, dragonflies and delightful leaps of these toads/frogs happily on pretty lily pads. Amazing how comfortable with visitors and naturally camaflouged themselves into their environment! We then ventured onto the universal trail (paved) and found ourselves on the Beech Trail which led us to the Geologic Fold (actual rock formations that look like they are tucked in like a set of towels). Very cool! We were on a scenic tower which gaves us a wonderful view of the water around us and finally we made our way to the boardwalk on the Riverwalk Trail...breathtakingly beautiful to peer out over the water after a huge, violent thunderstorm! Front row seats to God's amazing might and strength and His ability to calm the storms after. We are definitely going to return again and again to this beautiful area. We give it 5 stars! Very doable for family afternoon. It was like a little escape and being in another world for an afternoon! :-)
