“Great Value, Great Location, Great Staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

This was my second stay at this hotel. (Christmas 2012 and July 4th weekend 2013). My three kids and I love this hotel. We stay on the second floor. There are no elevators so keep that in mind. If anyone does not like kids or noise, I don't recommend getting a room on the first floor next to the pool. The staff at this hotel is top notch!! The continental breakfast is great. It has something for everyone. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. We will continue to stay here each time we come to Knoxville! Some people have complained about the road noise - but we have not noticed it at any time. (our room is always on the front of the hotel and like I said before, we get a second floor room). Plenty of parking also.

We arrived in a driving rainstorm and could not locate the hotel. Thank goodness for cell phones and a very helpful desk clerk that helped us locate it. The hotel was nicer than we expected for the price. We only stayed one night and continued our trip. We would definitely stay here again.

We were planning a 4-day visit to east Tennessee and wanted to stay closer to Knoxville and away from the congestion and higher prices of the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area. Hadn't stayed at a Red Roof Inn in years, but the website offered a great value ($62) for a king suite at the senior rate. The location is very convenient to I-40, but it is hard to find because you can't see their sign from Strawberry Plains Pike.

We had requested a ground floor room, but when we checked in, the clerk advised that they had no king suites on the first floor. Not a big deal though - she gave us what she called a handicap accessible suite at the same price. The room was large with a nice sitting area away from the bedroom. Furnishings seemed a little tired, but the room was clean enough. Bed was comfortable and very clean. A/C worked quite well and was very quiet. Bathroom was clean; plenty of hot water but the water pressure in the shower was poor. There was some road noise from I-40, but overall, the room was very quiet. Older TV, but it worked great. Room had a nice little microwave and fridge. Coffeemaker was one of those one cup at a time kinds - better than nothing but I've had better "in-room" coffee service.

Breakfast was fairly standard - gravy, biscuits, waffles, tasty sausage. If you didn't want those, however, the selection was limited... plain bread for toast, what looked like packaged donuts, only one flavor of yogurt, a kid cereal, instant oatmeal and raisin bran and apples. More fruit and better bread/pastry choices would have been nice. However, the coffee was good, and there were three juices to choose from. The older lady working the breakfast room was very pleasant and kept the place very nice and neat.

The "fitness center" was really just two treadmills and an exercise bike, but I appreciated the opportunity to use it for my daily walk, since the weather was pretty hot and humid outside.

The area seemed safe and - while no restaurants are an easy walk - there are several fast food and sit down within a 3-5 minute drive.

Overall, for our purposes, this was a very good choice and we would probably stay here again when we return to the area.

We had made reservations for a single-night stay at the Red Roof Inn & Suites in East Knoxville, TN. We were greeted by a desk clerk who made us both feel as if he was doing us a great favor by checking us in. His attitude may be the reason so few travelers were staying at this location. The room was nothing special, but it appeared to be clean. One of the security doors would not let me in from the outside, causing me to walk around to the main entrance from where we were parked. The breakfast area was well set-up with a nice selection of foods. When we checked out the next morning, we were pleasantly surprised to find a friendly face behind the desk. The desk clerk was a very nice, friendly lady who told us the history of the Motel.
This motel was very difficult to find at night. Their sign is so low that it was hidden from our view as we approached the area.

I'm usually a Choice hotel user, but we were going cross country on our every 2 yr trip to AZ to see family and I wanted to save money. I was surprised how nice this hotel was. Very clean, nice staff, price was great (under $70 for a 2 bed room), convenient to freeway and breakfast was good. Unlike most Red Roofs, this hotel had interior hallways which is always on my must have on my list. Would definitely stay there again...

We were looking for something close to UT. We selected this hotel because of the excellent reviews and price. It is very easy to get off and on the highway. The rooms were clean and had a small table with two chairs. The mattresses were soft and the pillows were both thick and thin. The bath soap was a nice surprise as it smelled wonderful like a spa treatment. Free WIFI. Some items on the complimentary breakfast bar were; make your own waffle, biscuit and gravy, sausages, cereal, doughnuts and apples. We would have liked scrambled eggs, but there was plenty to eat. The breakfast bar staff and front desk were all very friendly and efficient. We will stay here again!

The motel is a little hard to find. They could use some better signage. It was clean and nice and the only other complaint I would have would be the pillows were soft and lumpy. Great Breakfast with oatmeal, yogurt, sausage patties, donuts, toast, biscuits, gravy, waffles, fuit loops and rasian bran. Really nice staff.
