“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

This is a relatively small buffet and not inexpensive at $18 for dinner. Menu pricing is much less at $12 for an entree ($5 a roll for sushi). Chinese selections are average. This place really shines for its hibachi, sushi, and udon. Each is made fresh to order and all were excellent. Desert is limited-but includes real ice cream. Crab legs and oysters are a nice touch.

If you want excellent and unlimited udon, hibachi, and sushi made to order you cannot go wrong.

“Expensive but great”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

All you can eat ribeye, crab legs, shrimp a bunch of different ways, sushi and clams -- and a bunch of other stuff too. Definitely not your typical buffet, and definitely worth the extra!

Excellent value for what you pay. It's is all you can eat sushi and buffet. Excellent service. Quality could be a tad bit higher on th sushi but overall great value.

“Second Review, still very good food.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2012

I have eaten at Makino a few times since my last review, and quality did go down a little bit for a time, but the first Friday of 2012 was just great. Baby clams, made to order sushi and sashimi, excellent whole baby octopus, crab legs, veal, and a host of other foods... all were of excellent quality and preparation. Special note and thanks to the mongolian bar chef for scallops, rib eye, and veg cooked very well ( you need a tip jar!) Service was great, and a friend that had never been there before but liked, sashimi commented on the quality. Lovely time, and all for less than $20 a person including drink and tip. There are many asian buffets in town, but I can't think of one that offers the quality of Makino.

“They overcharge tips intentionally”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2011

Watch out! They overcharge tips intentionally! It happened to me three times. I put down a certain amount of tips (more than 15%) and they always charge 2 dollars more... The first two times, I thought it was just a mistake and it's not a lot of money. But well, three is the charm... Don't think I am going back again. The food is just OK and raw fish is not fresh. If you plan to go, make sure you keep the receipt and check your credit card bill later on. I threw away the receipts, so don't plan to go back and argue with them just for several dollars.
