“Regular Kayaker on the Harpeth”
Reviewed February 13, 2012

Depending on the water level, this is a 3-5 hour float. The river got lots of damage during the flood of May 2010. Many of the large shade trees were leveled. Wear sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat. Early morning is the best time to beat the heat and to see wildlife - birds, turtles, fish. Stop by the historic tunnel carved through the hillside. It was once the location of an iron/steel mill. The tunnel was carved to provide power to the turbines that ran the plant. Now it empties into a great swimming hole. Yes, this is the tunnel you passed as you started your float trip.
