I have lived in Kingsport for the past 17 years and have to say that Bays Mountain Park is one of the most beautiful parks I have visited. There are hiking trails, wildlife exhibits including wolves, deer, snakes and otters, an indoor museum as well as a planetarium. I enjoy a peaceful walk around the lake every now and then as does my family. I highly recommend that anyone visiting this area consider a visit to this most beautiful park. You will not be disappointed.

My family and I enjoyed the day at Bays Mountain Park. We spent a few hours walking through the small animal exhibit, took a short boat ride, and watched a show at the planetarium.

If you are used to major attractions, like the National Zoo, be prepared to "enter" the habitat and be the visitor to the homes of the wildlife of the Smoky Mountains. The wolf pack roams their territory, and howls in answer to the naturalists on staff. The owls, hawks, and other injured raptors are raised as closely as practicable to their natural state. River otters frolic in their pond, and there are probably more deer roaming the park outside the deer habitat as inside the enclosure. Take the barge ride to see the beaver working on their dam, or just walk the many trails around the lake. This doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the park. The state of the art digital planetarium presents programs from several sources, including some produced at the park and distributed to other planetariums. Get a season pass, because there is no way to enjoy all the benefits of the park in one or two visits.

This is a very nice park to spend a couple of hours with the kids or girlfriend. There are animal exhibits, the wolves are the best. Hiking, picnic grounds and the planetarium is pretty nice. You can take the kids on a pontoon ride around the small lake there. It cost only 3 bucks a car to get in too. The people there are wonderful.
