Deep in the Tennessee woods lies Charit Creek - an old 1800's homestead now available as a hostel/lodge. We have stayed there a couple of times now in the past year have LOVE LOVE LOVE it. If you want nostalgia, surrounded by beautiful scenery, awesome hiking and horseback riding trails with rivers, overlooks and plenty of flora and fauna, this is the place to be! No electricity means no distractions. Charit Creek allows you to enjoy nature's wonders as it was meant to be enjoyed. The camp host, Randy, was great! Full of information about the history of the lodge and some of the surrounding area; always smiling, funny, easy to talk to and genuinely looking to make your stay great. Young or old, you will enjoy this place. Keep in mind though that you can only get there by hiking or horseback down a 1 mile long trail and you need to pack in everything you need. What a great experience. Can't wait to do it again!

We rode our horses about 2 miles to this rustic lodge but you can also hike as short as 7/10 of a mile to get there. Just bring grain for horses and they supply the rest. Awesome arches and box canyons to hike to. Ride horses or hike to cross the river. Enjoy someone else cooking for you. Wood stove for heat made the cabin warmer than we heat our house. What a great trip.

I hiked to the lodge late last summer and have been looking forward to staying there since. I finally made it on April 6. It was a beautiful weekend with cool evenings, so we had the perfect opportunity to enjoy the wood stove at night. The hot showers were great considering there is no electricity. Accomodations are comfortable, but rustic. You have to hike in approximately a mile and bring your own towel. Bedding is furnished. Cell phone reception is not great and there is no place to plug the charger, not saying that is a bad thing. Food is excellent. I have never seen so many stars in the sky!

Room Tip: All the rooms are similar. Full sized bunkbeds that accomodate 6 single travelers or couple per roo...

This was my fourth time staying at Charit Creek lodge and it was the best. Its a great place of rustic beauty, peace, and solitude hidden in a secluded cove of Big South Fork and my son and I had a great time together. Larry did a great job serving those in attendance. The food was plentiful and delicious...served hot right after the dinner bell rang. His passion for Charit Creek makes the overall service and experience better than past years when run by other outfitters. keep it up!

this was my 1st time and I hope not my last time to stay at the lodge, our group had 11 women hikers and the staff was GREAT! the only problem was that the beds were hard but as wore out as I was from hiking and the camp fire it didn't take me long to fall asleep. The food was AWESOME!

We can't say enough how much we enjoyed the experience at Charit Creek. We only stayed one night, but a week would be more like it! The hike was easy enough but we built up an appetite... which is a good thing because the food was excellent! Brian is an awesome host, and we are glad he is back after a nearly two year absence. It was a very chilly night in the valley, but the wood stove in the cabin kept us more than warm enough. We will be back!

Room Tip: The rooms are bunk-style, so be prepared to get to know folks! But the beds are big enough for two...

We spent two days up in Charit Creek Lodge this past week and it was wonderful. The accomadations though rustic are fantastic if you are a history buff. You stay in a log cabin that was in existence 100 years ago and has remained the same. Oh you don't have electricity well guess what that is the way it used to be. They have bath houses that have flush toilets and hot showers but you will stay in a cabin that has a simple propane lantern for light and a wood stove stove for heat. The dining area is the same motiff, so if you can't live without xbox and video games this is not the place for you but if you want to enjoy life as it was meant to be with babbling brooks, deer in the meadow and moonlit nights this is your place. This place is a must, rediscover back porches, rocking chairs and a good book. There is easy access to a multitude of great hiking trails and if you enjoy horseback riding look up Southeastpacktrips they can arrange rides from the lodge throughout the entire park. (ask for Larry) he was fantastic and catered to all our wishes. The lodge serves breakfast and dinner which is a welcome retreat after a long day of riding. This place is no longer owned by the LeConte lodge and is not located in Seiverville. It is in the Big South Fork recreational area only a couple of hours from Knoxville and Nashville. Areas such as these are disappearing it is pure joy to be able to experience one that is still up and running.
