A walking pleasure to look at the wildlife and greenery in this hidden park just near the city limits of Jackson

“Kinda Creepy in the Winter”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

My wife and I came by the Nature Park recently around 4pm. Built in 1984 or so, the building are somewhat dilapidated and run-down. They have quite a few caged animals to see: owls, hawks, and eagles. We enjoyed walking through along the wooden platforms, but during the winter time, everything is pretty much dead. The pictures on the website and on this site show it during the spring and fall when the plants are more colorful and vibrant. The park closes at 5pm during this time of year, and I wouldn't want to walk around this park by myself or unless it was much busier. There were only 1-3 other folks walking at the park, but it was still a little eerie. I think during the spring it would be a nice morning or afternoon walk to get your exercise in for the day. During the summer, I imagine the mosquitoes run rampant since it is pretty wet and muddy. Overall, it's worth the trip to see the animals and walk around, but nothing to write home about.

“Nice walk!”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

We have been wanting and trying to take this nature walk for a couple years now and we finally made it and it was defiantly worth the wait. We loved every second of it, the kids even had fun and the eagles and owls are better than the zoo.

“Worth a short detour”
Reviewed October 14, 2012

We were driviing by and looking for something to do to get out of the car and ended up here. We spent an hour and a half wantdering and taking photos, and we didn't exhaust the place. Nothing too exotic, but good enough.
