“Can't wait to do this again!”
Reviewed August 10, 2011

We were determined to go rafting while on our Gatlinburg mini-vacation. We had chosen another company, but decided to check out a time share and they sold us tickets for Big Creek Expeditions, we didn't know if there would be any difference, but we are so glad we went here! Our guide was Clay....he's a grown man trapped in a kids body. Really funny guy, very talkative during the entire trip. He had us spinning the raft in circles, made sure everyone on the raft got drenched. As soon as he saw someone drying off, the raft was turned to make sure the next wall of water his their side. My 8 yr old was a little nervous about going, but after the first Class 3 rapid, he never stopped giggling and laughing. There's a couple of slower spots on the trip in deeper water, and people can jump out of the raft and float for a short bit on their own. The front of the raft makes a great springboard for flips into the river.

This will be on our list of activities every time we come back to Gatlinburg. From what Clay said, Big Creek doesn't have alot of turn over in their guides. They are all a little older and more mature, the boss treats them good so they keep coming back. We're looking forward to another great time with Clay on the Upper Pigeon River.

“Great time on the water”
Reviewed August 6, 2011

This company went out of there way to help us you see our 15 year old son is in a wheelchair since birth and we try to let him do as nuch as possible. I contacted Big expeditions and the e-mail back and say they would be happy to take us down the river. We were going to do the 1 & 2 rapids but Kate said we could do the 3 &4's and we did. She did a great job watch our son and we had a great time. Our son was holding the rope all the way down the river but we felt a ease. Go white water rafting while you are in the Smokies's . Tim

“Fun & Wet White Water Rafting on Pigeon River”
Reviewed August 5, 2011

We have been white water rafting before in West Virginia, Colorado and Utah. This was comparable and fun for newbies and those who have rafted previously. We did the 1/2 day excursion and it was adequate time on the river. The trips are well run with safety talk beforehand so that you are well prepared in case you fall out of the raft. The only drawback I had was that I think these trips are only as good as the guide and our guide was not as outgoing as I would have liked. He never asked about us and told little about himself unless asked direct questions. But again, the trip was worth it (reasonable) and with a better guide would have received better marks.

“Awesome trip on the Upper Pigeon...can't wait to go back!”
Reviewed August 4, 2011

Our family just returned from a trip down the Upper Pigeon. For most of us, it was our first experience rafting and we were unsure about what to expect. We had no reason to worry. Our large party was divided into two rafts with Jordan and Clay as our guides. We had nothing to fear. They were experienced and professional. They provided a thrilling ride with a lot of laughs along the way. The ages of our party ranged from 10 to 50 and no one was disappointed. We felt safe throughout the trip and would not hesitate to recommend Big Creek Expeditions to families of all ages. Can't wait to come back.

“Can't wait to go rafting again!”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

My family and I had a great experience on the Pigeon River. JoJo was our guide and we had a blast. This was the first rafting experience for my family, including a 4 year old. My daughter loved the experience and wanted to go back as soon as we finished. The Lower Pigeon trip was a relaxing float with beautiful views and several opportunities to jump in and cool off on the hot day we went. My wife and I can't wait to try the Upper section when we return to the area.
