On TVA Lake Watauga, at the top of a bluff at least 100 feet above the lake, the view is wonderful.
The restaurant is open during only the months of Daylight Saving Time. The water below and the mountains across the lake are pretty. Add a sailboat and the view is enhanced.
The wait staff is attentive, efficient and eager to serve. The hot bread is always fresh. The Easter meal menu provided two choices of meat - turkey and pork tenderloin with an array of vegetables and two choices of dessert - strawberry pie or a chocolate cake concoction.
Although the view and service were exceptional, the meal was unexceptional. The turkey seemed to be from pressed loaf; the dressing lacked spices and was gooey; the portions were small for $13.50.
We will return. The view and staff, again, are outstanding. The coffee is great and always hot. The cup is never empty. The seafood remains to be tried.
