“Authentic Thai Food in Hampton, TN”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Thai Am is one of those great finds you seldom come across. Deep in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains, on the side of the road, sits a small white building. Reflective of an earlier time, Thai Am is a labor of love that is not run by a calendar or watch. It is best to call ahead to make sure dinner service is available. Also, the seating is very limited. But the food is authentic Thia country food, delicious, very inexpensive, and skillfully prepared by Wanta, the owner.

“always have a plan b”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

we love this place...but we know not to think she is open when she does not want to be. And after she has closed a few days.....everyone rushes in to order....it is a small cozy place where everyone is chitty chatty with everyone....the food is great....simply good food and good prices..we always get the 6 egg rolls for 5 bucks and then order two entrees..then realize we just needed to split one entree..

the service is great..we love birdie

but we always have a plan b...in case she is closed or out of food

Great food, good prices. Call to make sure they are open! Food is authentic Thai. Prices are good and dress is very casual.

“Try This Place!”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

This very small Thai Restaurant is the real deal. It is authentic, filling, and unbelievably reasonable. If you are within 1 hour of this jewel it is worth the drive. Check it out, but be sure to call ahead to make sure she is open. They have a somewhat loose schedule.

“Out of the way place; uncommonly great food.”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

We love Thai Am as there are no Thai restaurants located in the Tri-Cities (at least not authentic Thai). The Pad Thai is popular as are the spring rolls. We usually get the Tom Yum soup and chicken curry (yellow curry). It is an abundant amount of food and just right for sharing as a couple. Wanta will spice to your taste so just let her know. Bertha is the server who works there and she does her best to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Wanta uses only fresh ingredients and when they are gone, the restaurant closes for the evening - usually before 8 p.m. She has limited hours so call ahead so you will not be disappointed. Don't miss Thai Am -- a delicious, savory, culinary experience right here in the Tri-Cities in Hampton, TN (near the base of Roan Mountain.)
