Description: Granite City Food & Brewery(R), a casual dining restaurant with an on-site brewery. Our initial restaurant commenced operations in St. Cloud, Minnesota, in June 1999. Our second restaurant, located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, commenced operations in December 2000, and our third restaurant opened to the public November 20, 2001 in Fargo, North Dakota. We now have 26 stores operating in 11 different states. At Granite City Food & Brewery(R), we serve signature beers, including Duke of Wellington (an English ale) and Broad Axe Stout (an authentic Irish beer), and entrees such as London broil. We offer a broad menu of items that are prepared fresh daily and are served in generous portions at reasonable prices. Our handcrafted beers are moderately priced and offer unique styles and flavors not typically produced by major breweries. Our founders, Mr. Wagenheim and Mr. Burdick, have over 52 years of combined hospitality industry experience. Mr. Wagenheim's experience includes that of corporate executive, owner/operator, manager and consultant for hotels, resorts, and individual and multi-unit restaurant operations. Mr. Burdick, a brewing chemist, has over 30 years experience in the restaurant, hospitality and brewing industry in both corporate and private positions. Fermentus Interruptus™Shortly before we opened our third store, we launched our patented brewing process, Fermentus Interruptus™, which makes micro brewing for multiple locations more efficient. This process, conceived and designed by Mr. Burdick, allows us to ship sweet liquid called wort, from our central brewing facility to individual stores. When this liquid reaches the stores, we begin the fermentation process and complete the brewing. We use Fermentus Interruptus at all of our Granite City Food & Brewery(R) locations.

“Really busy but really good”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

Great appetizes and salads. It is a really busy bar area every day of the week. Always a wait. Beer cheese soup is great. Entree salads are all very good. Homemade dressings are fresh and wonderful.

“Love the Food!”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

We live in the Franklin area and have been to Granite City a number of times. We don't drink a lot, so the food was important to us and it has delivered every time. Between my husband and I, we've had probably a dozen dishes and have enjoyed every one. The restaurant is only a couple months old, has a cool vibe, really good food, friendly service, great freeway access, easy parking and a happening bar area (it can get loud). They also have a good Sunday brunch and a nice patio area. It's a popular place, so sometimes there is a wait.

“Great spot to meet friends”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

I stopped here to have a drink with co-workers before heading to dinner and so my review will be based upon only that. We were immediately seated in the bar area and what I noticed off hand was how loud it was. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and having a great time. We didn't order food but from what I observed, everything looked great. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the brewery. I expected the establishment to feel like a brewery and to be honest, it's like an upscale, modern take on a brewery. The bar area was open, has big booths, plenty of seating at the bar, and surrouding the bar. The beer was great, too. A co-worker ordered the flyte and he enjoyed all of the beer, except for the dark chocolate flavored beer. He's not big into sweets.

I would definitely go back to the brewery when I'm on that side of town again. I think it is a great place to meet with friends to watch a game or just to catch up.

“Delicious food, great brews, excellent serivce and prime location”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

We ate here twice during our 3 day stay in Franklin, TN. The restaurant is very well-decorated: good for a date, a family dinner or an office lunch (we saw many groups of 12-18 ppl during the lunch hour).

I recommend the beer samplers. Our server (dead ringer for Richard Armitage) was really great. He presented the beers and gave us space and time to sample each one and choose what we'd like to have in a full-size.

Their giant salads were really fresh, crisp and flavorful. The Asian Chicken salad held up really well in the fridge and tasted just as wonderful the next day - seriously!

The glazed Asian shrimp appetizer was large, tasty and enough food to be its own meal.

Absolutely try their cheddar ale soup. It's outstanding comfort food, especially on a cold day.

The Key Lime pie was huge and lovely, but I like mine really tart and this was mildly tart (better for the masses). That might be the only thing that wasn't amazing and it's more a matter of my personal taste.

The atmosphere was lively, fun and pleasant both at lunch and dinner. It was never obnoxious or over-crowded. We'd absolutely recommend stopping in if you're nearby.

“Fantastic Food. Beautiful restaurant but crowded and loud”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

Had dinner here with parents and friends. The food was very good and deserts were even better. We sat by the kitchen so we got to see all kinds of dishes coming out and the looked great. Crowded at 5pm so get there early if you want a good table. Very loud atomosphere so not a place you want to go if your looking for a quiet dinner, but great with friends and family who can be just as loud as the best of them :) Waiter, Tyler was Fantastic and super friendly!!
