The Factory
Ranked #10 of 60 things to do in Franklin
More attraction details
Attraction details
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Built in 1929, The Factory occupies the buildings that once served as the Dortch Stove Works, Magic Chef and later the Jamison Bedding Company. A member of the National Register of Historic Places, The Factory is rich with history and a very careful renovation has preserved many of The Factory's original features and architectural details. Calvin bought the sprawling complex seven years ago and, after an environmental clean-up, began opening the facility in sections. Today, The Factory at Franklin has 83 tenants. Imagine that factory coming alive with concerts, dining, shopping, meetings, live theatre, art galleries, decorators' showcases, antiques and offices. Our unique facility can serve all this and more. Take a look at The Factory in its days as a bustling, working factory, then embark on a photographic tour of its renovation and transformation to the diverse and vibrant shopping and entertainment complex it is today.

“Just OK”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

Visited The Factory as part of our Franklin afternoon. We just did one building and it was OK. Not many stores. We really enjoyed our ice cream cones and the guitar store. The staff were enthused and knowledgeable and more than willing to spend time with "window shoppers".

We expected more out of this place and heard there was usually singing in the evening but it only took us about 15 minutes to go through.

“Interesting venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

Visited The Factory on 10/18/2013 for a dinner and Amy Grant concert in the Liberty room with a group of 500-600 people. Had a good buffet style meal that was served in a reasonable amount of time for the group size. After dinner the staff was able to clean up and clear the room for the concert in about an hour. We attended a mini-concert in the meantime however there are plenty of nice shops (especially artists) to enjoy as well. The Liberty room made a nice concert hall for our group size with a variety of seating, a balconey and plenty of floor space to.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

Very historic use to be a factory were stoves were made. Now it houses a lot of unique stores they have a nice antique store that is pretty reasonably priced. We visited The Sweet Shoppe and got us some ice cream it sure was a great place.
