Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Built in 1929, The Factory occupies the buildings that once served as the Dortch Stove Works, Magic Chef and later the Jamison Bedding Company. A member of the National Register of Historic Places, The Factory is rich with history and a very careful renovation has preserved many of The Factory's original features and architectural details. Calvin bought the sprawling complex seven years ago and, after an environmental clean-up, began opening the facility in sections. Today, The Factory at Franklin has 83 tenants. Imagine that factory coming alive with concerts, dining, shopping, meetings, live theatre, art galleries, decorators' showcases, antiques and offices. Our unique facility can serve all this and more. Take a look at The Factory in its days as a bustling, working factory, then embark on a photographic tour of its renovation and transformation to the diverse and vibrant shopping and entertainment complex it is today.

What?! This place had the feel of an outlet mall with prices of a rich part of town. Eek. Not a good vibe overall. The antique store there had a lot of non-antiques mixed in and the prices were very expensive. I couldn't wait to leave.

Consignment stores, art galleries, furniture stores, and antique stoves on display. There is also a Farmer's Market during the Summer on Saturday mornings.

You will find a lot of shops in one place here. All inside and very neat and clean. This was an old factory with a lot of history turned into a shopping mall of small shops. VERY NICE!!!

The Factory is a huge space, and has been nicely restored. We were there on a Friday afternoon, but did not see the crowds of people that we expected to see. The children's shop, "The Little Cottage" is precious and has fabulous upscale items and great gift wrap. We were the only ones in it. The wonderful art store upstairs is going out of business and closing. We had lunch at Sapphire which was delightful and we loved their Sapphire Blue art touches and decor. Again, there were few people in the restaurant. I hope this was just a fluke because The Factory is a great space, and a lot of it! It just seemed to have no energy. Maybe downtown Franklin is too fascinating to leave??

This mall is staffed with the local vendors. Much nicer than a flea market. Good place to find a unique gift.
