“Make sure to visit Saturday AM!”
5 of 5 bubbles Review of The Factory

The Factory

Attraction details
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Built in 1929, The Factory occupies the buildings that once served as the Dortch Stove Works, Magic Chef and later the Jamison Bedding Company. A member of the National Register of Historic Places, The Factory is rich with history and a very careful renovation has preserved many of The Factory's original features and architectural details. Calvin bought the sprawling complex seven years ago and, after an environmental clean-up, began opening the facility in sections. Today, The Factory at Franklin has 83 tenants. Imagine that factory coming alive with concerts, dining, shopping, meetings, live theatre, art galleries, decorators' showcases, antiques and offices. Our unique facility can serve all this and more. Take a look at The Factory in its days as a bustling, working factory, then embark on a photographic tour of its renovation and transformation to the diverse and vibrant shopping and entertainment complex it is today.

“Make sure to visit Saturday AM!”

The Factory has some cool shops and I love stopping by to see the pets. BUT Saturday AM is the best time to go. The Franklin Farmer's Market opens at 9am in the summer, be sure to google them to verify the hours. Make sure to bring cash, some of the farmers only take the green stuff. Also it is encouraged to bring your own bag. There are food trucks and other vendors there too. Come check it out...you won't be disappointed! Ps they also have local meat and poultry too! Be Real and Eat Local (borrowed that from a favorite spot of mine ;) )

“Don't bother”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013

Last December went on a Sunday and there were five things open. Thought I would try it again the next time in the area. That day was today. I fail to see what anybody sees in The Factory. There were zero artists at work. Today is a Tuesday and still more than a handful of things were closed. I even went to the information area to see if I was missing something. Maybe if everything was open I would have a different review. The only thing preventing me from giving a lower rating was the antique mall. If you like antiques it is worth going, otherwise I would not waste the gas.

“Lots of history and fun things to see!”

Former Franklin Stove factory turned into very eclectic working artist studios (You can watch artists in many disciplines at work!) coupled with interesting and unusual shops make this a fun place to go.

“Unique shops”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2013

This is a factory turned into a mall but the shops are all unique, mostly hand crafted items. It's definitely worth a visit.
