Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Built in 1929, The Factory occupies the buildings that once served as the Dortch Stove Works, Magic Chef and later the Jamison Bedding Company. A member of the National Register of Historic Places, The Factory is rich with history and a very careful renovation has preserved many of The Factory's original features and architectural details. Calvin bought the sprawling complex seven years ago and, after an environmental clean-up, began opening the facility in sections. Today, The Factory at Franklin has 83 tenants. Imagine that factory coming alive with concerts, dining, shopping, meetings, live theatre, art galleries, decorators' showcases, antiques and offices. Our unique facility can serve all this and more. Take a look at The Factory in its days as a bustling, working factory, then embark on a photographic tour of its renovation and transformation to the diverse and vibrant shopping and entertainment complex it is today.

Nice place with unique shops. Would be even better if you catch them while they have a special event going on. It is a good place to drop by while you are doing other shopping, not a destination place.

We had reservations at Sapphire at 6 PM, so we went a little early so we could check out the shops and artists we had read about at The Factory. Unfortunately, all of the shops were closed on a Saturday afternoon/evening, so we didn't get to see any of them. Bummer.

We live in Franklin and The Factory is second to Main Street to us. The hometown feel. In any weather the wide street inside offers a place to walk, even with your dog. We connect with local merchants, grab a hot dog or ice cream cone and shop. There is a "sidewalk cafe" where pets are welcome. I only wish there were MORE stores in The Factory. Currently, we enjoy the restaurants and have favorite places to shop on a regular basis. I hope the company that recently purchased it will bring in even more options.

We live only a few blocks away and the factory is great.. it has all kinds of art, coffee shops, trinket shops, ice cream,antiques,etc.. Outside the factory it has the Farmers Market every saturday which we love to go to. Also, has a fresh seafood market, barber shop and two restaurants (Boxwood and Saffire attached)

Located in a converted oven factory complex. Cute shops, and local places to eat.
