Attraction details
Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Built in 1929, The Factory occupies the buildings that once served as the Dortch Stove Works, Magic Chef and later the Jamison Bedding Company. A member of the National Register of Historic Places, The Factory is rich with history and a very careful renovation has preserved many of The Factory's original features and architectural details. Calvin bought the sprawling complex seven years ago and, after an environmental clean-up, began opening the facility in sections. Today, The Factory at Franklin has 83 tenants. Imagine that factory coming alive with concerts, dining, shopping, meetings, live theatre, art galleries, decorators' showcases, antiques and offices. Our unique facility can serve all this and more. Take a look at The Factory in its days as a bustling, working factory, then embark on a photographic tour of its renovation and transformation to the diverse and vibrant shopping and entertainment complex it is today.

Located in a converted oven factory complex. Cute shops, and local places to eat.

“Nice Break for Lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2012

We enjoyed the old stove displays that were in the entrance. Nice place to take a short break from the heat and enjoy lunch. Not very many shops and most are expensive. But the Boxwood restaurant is fantastic for lunch.Several weddings going on during our Saturday visit to the Factory.

“Good for a Hot Day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

Was very refreshing after walking around downtown in the heat to get some cool air while walking around. They are also dog friendly with many of their indoor restaurants having seating available for pets. We just wish the Factory was a little bigger with some more neat shops inside. Neat Building too!

“A few nice shops, but sort of a let down”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2011

Really expected there to be a lot more shops inside the factory. There is a small ice cream parlor that has good ice cream, you do have to take it out of the parlor to eat. There are some tables and chairs in a common area. There is also a small shop , I believe the name is Music City Dogs, something to that effect , it has great hot dogs that you can have many different ways, sat outside in the common area to eat the hot dogs also. There is a great antique shop that is a good size. A few other stores, there may have been more to a back area, but wasn't really sure how to get back there. The factory has a farmer's market on Saturday, was disappointed by that. It is very crowded and there really was not a lot of choices. Some local grown produce, some crafts etc. Most of it was a bit over priced for being a local farmer's market. If you go be prepared to fight for a parking spot.
