The "Ren Center", as we locals call it, is an educational must see for those visiting Dickson. This facility was built with donated profits from the sale of a local hospital by the Jackson family. The Jackson family has a long and wide history in the medical field and still practices in our town, today. The Ren Center is a combination of educational classes, mostly in liberal arts, but also deep into computer technologies and broadcast media. The giant "ball" structure houses a 360 degree laser light theatre and the center also runs stage plays. Although this is in small town Dickson, it draws a lot of talent and interest from nearby Nashville (30ish miles away) so one can find some great entertainment. I would recommend this for anyone, especially families, who are more educational oriented. It is not a cheesy tourist trap at all. It has always stood by it's founder's dream of promoting higher education. If you are in the area around Christmas time, the giant Christmas tree in the lobby (30+ ft.) is a great photo spot for holiday pics. Free to enter and look around, Fees apply to laser shows and plays.

I was so impressed. It is truly something for the community to be proud of it. This is really an excellent way to expand the educational opportunity of the area.

My family visited The Renaissance Center when it first opened in 1999. I was impressed then, and I remain impressed. What an awesome asset to this area! Community theatre, fine arts classes, dinner theatre, laser light shows set to music, educational venue for school field trips - I could go on, but you should check it out for yourself. So happy this place is here!
