“Solid choice for dinner”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

We enjoyed our meal. Everything came out as expected. For a Friday night, it was pretty empty and I was curious why we were seated so far away from the beautiful window views of the lake even though we asked to be seated with a view. The waiter was very kind and helpful as well.

“Love, love, love it!”
Reviewed July 23, 2011

We just recently found this place and have already returned twice plus we tell everyone about it. We will be taking (out of towners) my husbands mother & father plus his brothers family July 30. We are very excited to share this restaurant with them. Our food has always been great as was our service. The seafood is so fresh and fabulous, we have tried the fried combo platter and the salmon. We tried a pasta dish and Rosemary chicken (yum, seriously it was so good.) My husband had the chopped steak once but he ate it so fast I did not get to try it. Oh yeah, the brownie/ice cream desert is very good. I hope there is a band outside on the 30th. There has only been a singer in the bar area the few times we have been there. Three trips so far and not one problem I can think of, I don't suspect anything different for July 30. Keep up the good work!

“Trust your nose!”
Reviewed March 28, 2011

Nice drive across the bridge. attractive setting, clean. Ordered Oysters Rockerfeller, usually a favorite dish. Smelled terrible. Husband was brave enough to taste & it tasted ok so we ate some. The last one really stunk & was obviously bad so we told the waitress & she told the chef & he agreed that it smelled awful. Ok that happens but it should have been taken off our bill.Charged us anyway. The rest of the food was poor quality, a bit greasy. We left & purchased a bottle of Pepto Bismol.

“Beautiful But Loud”
Reviewed October 2, 2010

WOW! If you're looking for the word on this restaurant, you're getting feedback at both ends of the spectrum. I'm not even sure that this is the place I was at- TripAdvisor's map has it more inland but we had to travel over a very narrow bridge to the other side of the lake. The place was called Angelos and it was at a marina. We sat out on the deck on a beautiful evening in August (yes, there was one). Water & Mountains - gorgeous. Our waiter was a college student (athlete?) probably from UT - nice guy, affable and attentive. The food was plentiful and tasty - didn't have fish so not sure if they pulled them right out of the lake. BIG PLUS - they serve liquor and we were staying in a dry county (dandridge). The must be located outside but that was good. BIG MINUS - they had big speakers inside and, especially, outside blarring music - this happened to be a Jimmy Buffet concert - and if you didn't like Jimmy, too bad. We had trouble talking to each other is was so loud. But, yeah, if you're staying in Dandridge this is a nice place.

“Gorgeous setting”
Reviewed July 3, 2010

We have eaten at The Point twice now and I can't rave about the food, although the lasagne is quite good if it is the same recipe as the other 2 Angelos locations. We live in Baneberry and regularly eat at their Tavern on the Green there and occasionally eat at their Hillside Grill in Morristown. In each case, the competition is non-existent which I think drives a lower level of service and quality.

In 2 visits we have tried an omelet (nothing special), salmon in an overly sweet glaze, chicken salad (pretty good) and a wahoo steak that was nice despite being smothered in a bland white sauce. Entrees usually come with a salad and a side. I recommend the house dressing; a sweet "Greek" vinaigrette.

High points: attentive service both visits, reasonable drinks prices and a fair pour (your server pours your glass of wine from a small carafe to guarantee uniformity), excellent french fries and a fantastic view of Douglas Lake.

Low points: generally uninspired menu.

We'll keep going back for the view and drinks, sitting outside when weather permits. Next time we'll probably stick to appetizers and hope for a little more flavor.
