I rented a pontoon for the day, plenty to see. no floating debris as most large lakes have. Very nice lake to cruise or ski on.

We go to Douglas Lake all the time. It is one of the cleanest Lakes we have ever seen. I'm sure the French Broad River running through it helps a lot. Everyone is happy because there is good fishing, it is excellent for skiing, tubing and just Sun Tanning. :-) Besides the water being crystal clear the view of the mountains is just outstanding no matter where your at. There were two different Marina that we stopped at. One had snacks and the other for meals. Besides that there were three other restaurants that we found. The first couple days we were on the Pontoon Boat and the rest of the time we were on the speed boat. We were able to fish and play off of both boats. We will continue to go to Douglas Lake every year. So five stars from this family!

The water was warm, lots of sites to see. Several islands that accommodate your hiking, picnicking, even camping. Come enjoy.

Stopped here on our trip to the Smokies this summer. We drove over to the Douglas Dam overlook area where you could catch a glimpse of the lake from above. There were picnic tables and grills here should you want to picnic at the Dam.

After that we drove Douglas Dam Rd around passed the Dam Store where we picked up Boat Launch Rd towards the Mountain Cove Marina. Here you can drive across a cement barrier around part of the lake. We did this for a short distance, but turned back and headed back up Boat Launch Rd towards the TVA Douglas Headwater Campground. Here there is a hiking trail, public boat ramp and a public swimming beach/hole (see separate review) in conjunction with the campgrounds. We went swimming in the lake here. It was a nice place to cool off and watch the boats cruise the lake. We saw several people tubing on the river that day & it looked like lots of fun. We considered renting a boat from the Marina, but pocketed that idea for another trip.

Overall, a beautiful lake with many opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, bird watching, hiking, camping, etc in addition to visiting the Douglas Dam. There are several restaurants in Dandridge that sit on the lakeshore and provide views of the lake too IF that is something you are interested in too!

Drove up to the upper viewing area of the dam. Very quiet setting and great place to relax & take in the views.
