“Time to renovate cabins”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013

If you like rustic and no frills accommodations the cabins may suit your taste. However, the doors were all warped and would not close. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable. There were dark water stains on the walls...possibly mold? The television reception was terrible, even though cable was one of the amenities offered.
Went on a hiking trail which was posted as a 2 mile loop. When I got to to the 2 mile mark it ended on the other side of the marina. I yelled across the lake where a worker was cleaning boats and asked how I was suppose to get over. He said the bridge was no longer there and the only way back was to hike back the same way way I came. Apparently they forgot to post this on the trail sign. Needless to say there was no loop and the two mile hike turned into a four mile out and back. Fortunately I made my Tee time at Cumberland Bear Trace golf Course which is why my group stayed @ the park in the first place.
Next time if we stay at the campground we'll stay in the nicer cabins/lodges.

This very nice state park is one of Tennessee's smaller parks but is loaded with amenities. Usually only higher priced commercial campground are this close to an interstate exit. Less than 15 minutes fro I 40 and downtown Crossville, Cumberland Mountain SP has a very nice swimming pool with diving boards and a nice inexpensive snack bar. Pick up a hot dog, drink and candy for around $5. For a bigger appetite, there is full service restaurant serving items such as fried chicken tilapia, smoked ribs and catfish with mashed potatoes, corn, okra, potato soup and more. There are also tennis courts and hiking trails. The park is best known for it's iconic arched bridge. The campground has 4 areas, one with full hookups for $25 a night ($15 for seniors), two with water and electric and a tent area. Electric is limited to 30 amp but the sites are large, paved and level. Large rigs can easily negotiate the paved roads. Next to the rangers station is a small store and there is a large lake with boat rentals. Worth a visit. Very pleasant.

Room Tip: Area 2 and 3 have fewer trees and offer a better chance for satellite reception. Make reservation i...

My family and I stayed here for 5 days in July and absolutely loved it. It was so relaxing and cool. The sites are nice and paved. A little narrow but enough for our camper and some chairs. The campground was crowded over the weekend but it was very quiet. The host was nice and there was plenty to do. My kids enjoyed the olympic sized swimming pool and pedal boats.

Stayed in campground 1st decent weather weekend Spring 2013. Love that Tennessee now allows online booking at some campgrounds. Cumberland Mtn even has some sites with WES. Sites on average are very nice. I like this campground much more than those near Knoxville. Bathhouses need some attention, but for $25 per night for WES site, complaining wouldn't be fair. Support TN State Parks!!!
Glad the sequester hasn't impacted camping. (Kidding).

If you're into history, this is the place to stay. Now it is a cabin and you are in the woods. If that's what you're looking for this is the place to be. My one room cabin had a bed, sleep sofa, kitchenette, wonderful shower with strong, hot water. It's near the lake and walking distance to a decent restaurant. I walked out the door to my hike.

Mark, the Park Ranger, gave me great suggestions for a 6 mile hike which included a beautiful waterfall through a bridge along with a swinging bridge. A 20 minute drive took me to Ozone 100' Falls State Natural Area.

So glad I spent 2 nights here.

Tip 1: Bring an extension cord in case there is not an outlet close to the bed.
Tip 2: Bring a single sheet to put over bedspread which has probably not been cleaned in a while.

Lovely wooded grounds close to Crossville. But the camp sites were so close together we felt like sardines. Mostly large campers some of which arrived late, dogs at some sites barked a lot not quiet environment. Fall is busiest season due to leaf color. We were there on a Thursday so weekends must really be busy!
