There is an Apple Festival at the Homestead tower and school in late Aug or first of Sept. Lots of nice crafts and music. Apples forsale too, of course.

Really cool octagonal stone tower and museum. Constructed in 1937-38 it houses a water tank. For a $4 fee, $2 for youth, under 6 are free, you can climb the 97 steps to the lookout platform and also see the artifacts from the 1930' and 40's in the ground level section that were typical of the homes in the area.

If you are into Great Depression History, this would be an interesting place to visit. The tower admission also includes a visit to a local home near the state park. We enjoyed seeing the history and the artifacts that were in the museum. Climbing up the 90+ steps of the tower were a little bit of a challenge for this out of shape person. The home was also a very interesting visit. It is amazing how well built the homes were.
