We should have known when the "permanent residents" of the motel were hanging out front, sitting on the cars, and staring us down as we unloaded our car. The second hint should have been the three different kinds of scary floor covering in one room. The third hint should have been the smell of PineSol so strong it took one's breath away. The fourth hint should have been the holes in the bathtub, the broken bathroom window, and the missing plumbing fixtures. But, the the clincher was the snake in the bathtub. Yep - the holes in the plumbing let him in. You may ask - why did we stay??? The short answer is that we didn't have reservations available anywhere else even close to our location. In retrospect, we should have just driven the hour to and from the relatives and a better accomodation. But we didn't. The manager is a dear, over-worked, sweet lady who is obviously overwhelmed by the work she has on her plate. However, it is only fair to other travelers to let them know that this is not a place one should stay with your family. If you want to party with the residents, or if you are a herpetologist, you may enjoy your stay.
