We were in town for a little anniversary stay 6/24/13-6/27/13 and booked this hotel because it appeared to be the best option available for using our Wyndham Rewards points. I was a little leary based on previous poor reviews. It was unfounded, as we found the hotel to be great. There was some renovations going on on the first floor, but we had a King Jacuzzi suite on the 2nd floor and not one time during our stay did we ever hear any noise - from workers, other guests or anything else. The breakfast was great - bacon, eggs, biscuits, gravy, waffles, bagels, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, and more. The only thing I can leave a less than great comment about was one spot in the room near the baseboard that had a hole (kicked) in it and a little shoddy faucet work in the king-sized jacuzzi where the faucet didn't line up with the hole in the wall. But is that enough to NOT stay? No. We will come back to Memphis and we will stay here again.
We stayed at the Wingate and I must say, the Wyndham name lost a little appeal here in Cordova, Tn.
The facility is under construction. Having a remodeling business myself, I am aware of the challenges of construction and occupancy. On the other hand, that is exactly why I know the facilities should not reflect mass debris and equipment scattered everywhere. A professional crew would clean as they go, not only for the customers sake (which is major) but simply because it would have been part of their training.
The elevator floor was remodeled but full of debris as if they put the floor in and walked away, leaving everything except the tools as it was when they finished.
The hallways were littered and most of the carpeting removed with the smell of dust and drywall.
The room was remodeled but the interior doors were not replaced nor painted on the closet and bathroom.
The toilet was like stooping down to sit on a kids potty chair it was so low. It was not bolted to the floor and kept shifting back and forth.
The tub was not replaced as you can see from my photo, it was old and out of place in the updated room.
Outlets were not properly installed, just thrown on. The exterior in back outside my window was atrocious. Photos included of the filth and litter.
You know it's a step down when your spouse tells you we should have stayed at the Quality Inn instead of a Wyndham hotel!
The nicest part was the front desk staff. Very kind and accommodating.
