I live in a MAJOR metropolitan area, so it's not like it's tough to find Indian food. But this is simply the best I've ever had. We spent the night in Cookeville primarily to eat here.

Exit 287 off of I-40 in Cookeville has the most restaurants I've ever seen in one place. Name the chain, and it's here. Block after block of chain restaurant. Our hotel "nearby restaurant" page had 32 of them listed, and they didn't scratch the surface. Drive by them all, drive through downtown, and eat here.

It's in a two store strip mall. Old school booths, a few tables, and a steam table for the lunch buffet (which we've never had), a cash register, and that' about it (though we did learn they have a private room which can accommodate parties of 50).

But the food is to die for. When you walk in the door, you're hit by the aroma of Indian spices. It's heavenly. They've got a pretty good menu,. and everything we've had has been perfect and wonderful. Large portions of everything. They've a limited alcohol menu, but the Flying Horse beer is tough to find other places and very good.

It's a mom & pop. He's cooking; she's waiting tables. So, it's not a 5 minute meal. But they cook everything to order, so the few extra minutes you'll spend waiting is worth it.

It's not a chain. It's two folks cooking just like they do for their family, and the food is just spectacular.

I have been to this restaurant several times. There is a small buffet to choose items from and menu items available. Everything is very good except the tandoori chicken. Not alot of taste and a bit dry. If you are looking to sample Indian food, this is a good place to start. The owner is very friendly and will take time to explain the food and see that you have everything you need. He brought out special hot condiments from the back for us to try and was very interested in making sure we had an enjoyable lunch. I do not recall the price, but it was very fair.

Everyone in my foodie circle LOVES Indian food and this is the best there is in Cookeville...the ONLY I think, and it delivers! Dinner can be pricey but lunch buffet is reasonable and a decent selection. We love the samosas and pakoras and their mango lassi is out of this world! Service, selection and cleanliness is always great so we try to eat there anytime we're in Cookeville! If you love Indian food, THIS IS GREAT.

Great little Indian restaurant in Cookeville. They serve lunch and dinner. Their lunch buffet is by far the best deal. Its around eight or nine dollars and there is a good selection of food to choose from. The naan is wonderful. Some of the best I have had. Their dinner menu is a bit pricey though. The service is great however and the Indian couple that own it are wonderful hosts. They really make you feel welcome. Try it you wont be disappointed.

Delicious food. Not cheap. The portions got a bit smaller recently, especially when it comes to meat and chicken. Absolutely check out paneer naan.
