“Great place for slow dinner for a small company”

Delicious food. Not cheap. The portions got a bit smaller recently, especially when it comes to meat and chicken. Absolutely check out paneer naan.

If you've been a little nervous about trying Indian food but would like to some time, this is a great place to go. The owners are incredibly helpful in explaining the different dishes to the uninitiated. The food is wonderful.

YOU MUST get the naan (bread) basket!!!!

“This is the best little restaurant in the world!”
Reviewed April 6, 2010

India Palace is a wonderful Mom and Pop place to relax, eat the most excellent Indian food, stay as long as you wish, and emerge feeling thoroughly loved and nourished.

The proprietors are a very friendly Indian family...."Mom and Pop" will love you and take care of you as if you were their own. They will prepare whatever you want however you want it, and they will make sure you are happy with it. Not only will they prepare things your way, but they will remember you (even if you show up months later) and your tastes and special needs.

The atmosphere of India Palace is very comfortable, nothing fancy, just a nice family style place with standard tables and booths surrounded by most interesting Indian decor and artifacts. There is always some nice Indian music playing in the background.

Their lunch menu includes a buffet ( which, unfortunately, we are always too late to sample). Lunch ends at 2:00pm whereupon the restaurant closes. They reopen at 5:00 until 10:00pm for dinner. If you happen by between 2:00 and 5:00, just get Mom's or Pop's attention, and they will bring you in and feed you.....and make you feel very special.

Is there a day when India Palace is closed? Not to my knowledge. The family is there every day to nourish you with great food at reasonable prices, to treat you with highest regard, and to send you on your way feeling well and happy.

After writing this glowing review, I award Indian Palace of Cookeville, Tennessee five well earned stars!

“EXCELLENT Indian food. EXCELLENT service from the proprietors.”
Reviewed March 13, 2010

One cannot have it all. This place is a bit off the beaten path. And, the decor is straight out of a 1970's strip mall buffet restaurant complete with nice, bright fluorescent lighting. You don't go here for the ambiance. But, oh, the food and the service.

The proprietors -- seem to be a husband and wife team -- run the place. And they just bend over backwards to serve their guests. It really did seem a lot like we were eating in their living room. They made several recommendations which slightly decreased the bill but greatly increased the meal (first time I had tried Flying Horse beer, which is a personal favorite of the proprietor).

The food was to die for. Spiced just as we asked for it. From appetizer to desert, it was authentic and fabulous. Some of the best Indian food we've ever had. Ample portions served steaming hot. And at bargain prices to boot.

This place is about the food. Not a lot of ambiance. Not a lot of hype. But genuinely good Indian food with spectacular service.
