“Just like home!!!”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

What can I say about this awesome establishment? To me is one of the most beautiful homes in Columbia, TN. The home and the grounds are stellar. I feel very confident in saying this because my wife actually grew up in this home. Go see this awesome home!!!!

“Wonderful House, Tour Guide and Pictures Allowed!”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

A lovely young woman gave my friend and me a very informative tour of this beautiful house furnished with many original pieces. After visiting so many homes where they don't allow photography, it was refreshing to be allowed to take pictures of anything we liked. The young woman was very enthusiastic about this house and the people that had lived there during the Civil War. This house is off the beaten path so not visited as often as other house so we were the only ones on the tour - which just added to our enjoyment.

“Interesting”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

Liked the stories and architecture that went with this house. No charge to tour and no other people to tour so we got a free private tour. Nice!

“Antique house and furniture in a beautiful setting”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

This antebellum home was damaged during the Civil War. Built before that war, it's furnished nicely with southern-made furniture of that period. Its history is yet another interesting American story the guide tells well. From the second floor balcony you can view its sister house across Mooresville Pike and hear about the competition that spurred the twin constructions. The setting is more rural than most of the remaining mansions and that's pleasant as well.
Descendants of Confederate soldiers own this house and staff the tour. I believe the tour is free.
The house is sometimes decorated and open at Christmas time, and in the spring a benefit dinner and concert event is held on the grounds.

“Interesting house”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

We had a very nice tour of this house just outside Columbia t"N. Some may have an issue with its ownership by a group of descendents of confederate veterans, Some of the views expressed were way out of line but we did not argue with the guide.
