“Lovely place to honor our veterans”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013

It doesn't take long to drive around this lovely cemetery, but it's well worth a visit. The place is an oasis of calm and dignity located in a busy area of Chattanooga. Near the entrance is the burial place of Federal soldiers and civilians who tried to steal the Confederate railroad engine "the General" during the War Between The States. They were captured, tried and hung, but later were the first recipients of the Medal of Honor. Their grave sites are marked by a marble monument topped with a steam train engine commemorating the "Great Locomotive Chase". Since Confederate soldiers could not be buried in National Cemeteries there is a small CSA cemetery on the UTC campus that is very interesting to visit as well. More important however, are the row upon rows of graves belonging to those who served their country well and hopefully we honor them with this lovely cemetery as a final resting place.

We were able to find graves of family members due to excellent map. Beautifully maintained, quiet, serene cemetery.

“Emotional.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013 via mobile

Initially 2015 was thought to be the year that the Cemetery would be full, but they are under construction to add space that will extend the life to 2046. When driving through it is hard to describe your feelings when you see all the rows of markers of men and women who fought for our freedom. A very emotional experience.
