What a interesting place. Very vintage, family run business, with a unique way of serving i havent seen anywhere else. Clean, and very retro in style, with a big local following. They serve family style on lazy susan's some good home cooking you can find. The fried chicken, the ribs, greens, okra and corn are the best. I ate 5 pieces of chicken! It only cost $12 a person and you can eat as much as you want, we thought that was a good deal. Pass on the dessert if its the cobbler. Both my husband and I thought it was the worst dessert we ever had.

We elected to stop in Bea's for dinner one evening recently based primarily on word-of-mouth and the fact that we happen to be passing by on our way elsewhere that evening.

It is not in the best area of town, but that's not really a problem; the food and cost are the problem here.

It's interesting inside; a real blast to the past with it's family-style seating around a lazy-Susan buffet. We were quickly seated at a table with one other couple; a large woman and her husband. They were still there when we left; eating away and not speaking. The waitresses all wear old-fashioned uniforms and bustled about doing a nice job keeping the serving dishes full. Everything looked clean. The tea had that icky off-taste.

The food is average at best. I expected much better Southern fare given the reputation, but this is very bland and waaaay too expensive for what you get. I suppose if you're the type of person who enjoys eating until you pop, this might be a good deal for you (and there were plenty of people there who fit the bill.) We tried a little of everything, found nothing worth a second helping, and left fairly quickly, feeling rather cheated. For $12.50 a person, we could have had much better food in any number of other places in Chattanooga.

We won't return, but at least we can now say we've been to Bea's!

I stopped by with a friend on a trip through Chattanooga recently based on a brochure at the Tennessee welcome center and so-so reviews on Trip Advisor. $12.50 per person for food that was barely passable. The good -- great rolls, good tea, tasty fried chicken and peach cobbler that was okay and it is all put on a lazy susan table. The bad -- pretty much everything else -- ribs (Thursday), greens, slaw, potato salad, potatoes in some type of sauce and the worst was something that was supposed to be pulled pork BBQ. I've never seen anything that particular shade of orange that did not have carrots or sweet potato in it. It tasted weird like it had cinnamon or nutmeg added to it. I tasted a dab and left the rest on the plate. Our waitress was good about replenishing items but there was way more than we could/would eat since there were only 2 of us at our table. The neighborhood is a bit 'sketchy' as my son would say.

We definitely won't be returning here again -- there is a restaurant that serves far superior buffet food in Rome, Georgia for less than $12.

Any fast food place -- including Krystal would be a better choice than here although the locals appeared to like it.

If you're coming here for junk hanging on the wall, a fawning staff that wears "flair" or a recipe you've never had before, clearly you are in the wrong place.

This is a long-standing Chattanooga, working-class Southern tradition. You're not going to expand your palate but certainly satisfy your appetite. Lack of pretension, serving food in a traditional Southern family-style way. The decor is classic 1970s restaurant--wood paneling and earth tones, staffed by waitresses wearing white uniforms and being typically Southern nice.

When you come in you are seated at a table whose centerpiece is a lazy susan. Unless you come in a large group you will likely share the table with strangers--whom you should quickly find something in common. From then on, you are treated to an endless supply of Southern foods, from the flagship fried chicken to vegetables like okra or corn; pork bbq, dumplings, beans, etc., and a dessert. And not to mention the absolutely sweeeeetttt tea. The "fixins' " changes from day to day, but it is all highly acclaimed. People come here year after year, and seek it out whenever they are anywhere nearby.

The food was just okay if that. The area of town is bad and possibly dangerous. I would not want to be there after dark! Because of the reviews we tried it however the food is nothing special! We were disappointed and would not return.
