“A costly adventure”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2009

Upon entering on Mother's Day around 1pm, we were promptly greeted and given the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We chose indoor to accomidate our party of six.Though there was tables available we were put in a booth... rather tight for 6 adults. We inquired about all the empy tables and told that they were not available. Our server asked for our selection of drinks and had a thorough knowledge of beer that was available, and was able to reccomend some to some of our group. I chose one of the drink specials called the "Ice Pick". I received a raspberry ice tea. After trying to flag down our server, he promptly removed the tea and came back about 5 minutes later with the correct drink. (It looked totally different) The drink was around $9.00 and had a overall good flavor silghtly on the tart side. We finallty were able to order ferom a vast menu. Some chose a vegetarian salad with humus and goat cheese, a chicken and gorgonzola salad, and hazelnut crusted chicken with a cherry sauce, white cheddar mashed potatoes and green beans. Gumbo soup with 1/2 turkey club, fish and chips and shrimp with pasta.
Service was slow, but it was a holiday. When the salads came they were all on a bed of mainly iceburg lettuce with just a bit of romaine mixed in. What a disapointment. Gumbo soup was salty, fries were highly proccessed (just like Burger Kings) and cold when received. Hummus was fishy tasting. ( A major concern for the vegetarian at the table) One salad doid not even come until 15 minutes after everyone else had there entrees.Overall we were not impressed with the food. It was a major dissapointment and I would not go back again. The bill averaged about $25 a person with a beer or beverage, Maybe it was a bad day, but I cannot afford to find a good day for lunch at my expense.

“great brewpub - neat old building”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2009

Pizza was very good, good cobb salad, good grilled chicken
I would go back and enjoy the bar areas and the outdoor seating areas too

prices are reasonable for a tourist area - comparable to Rock bottom brewery - but better food

“Best bbq pizza in the South”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2009

Big River Grille & Brewing Co. was the perfect place to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We took a day trip to Chattanooga from Atlanta and stopped by for a beer mid-afternoon before shopping along the river. We loved the beer so much we came back for dinner. Both our servers were excellent; very friendly, hospitable, and gave us directions and recommendations for things to do around town. We had the best bbq pizza I've ever had (and I've had a lot of it) and amazing bruschetta. Then we played pool for a few hours. All in all, a wonderful place that is family friendly, great for co-workers, or a romantic evening.

“Ok, basic corporate formula”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 19, 2009

Been there, done that. Just another corporate brew house masquerading as something special. Formula dishes, nothing out of the ordinary. Typical college crowd cooking, waiting staff, etc. Over done on atmosphere, a little pricey for formula plates. No salad comes with a $20 meal. Portions average. Safe bet.

“good food...great experiance...great manager!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2009

We came in today cause we thought it was going to rain and it ended up clearing up. The hotel we stayed at told us this is the place to eat downtown. We ordered the fish tacos and the brew burger? Nothing super special about the burger but the fish tacos were the one of if not the best we have ever had. A very tall brawny (hope he doesnt take offense he was just big like a football player)manager came by to check on us. We told him we loved the tacos and were out of town. He told us about the history of the building and downtown and actually took the time to show us around the restaurant. We are not drinkers but it was awesome to hear about their beer and how passionate he was about it. Anyways I have never have had someone take that kinda time for us ever...and the staff was just as friendly. Other then their prices being alittle high it was a great experiance. Hats off to the management and their staff wished we had one were we live
