Description: It starts with the freshest local ingredients from nearby farms, transformed by Chef Shelly D. Cooper into dishes that are both familiar and brand new. This isn't the high Southern cooking you might see in movies like The Help. This isn't low country cooking. It's inspired by the local fare eaten in the Southern Appalachians for centuries, a cuisine born from a deep love of the land. From steaks to scallops, from chowchow to country ham, from barbecue duck to biscuits, from hills and hollers to the coast, TerraMae's menus are firmly rooted in regional traditions with a contemporary twist. Some of our ingredients are unexpected to those who have forgotten or never experienced the practical magic of Appalachian foodways. Whether you come for dinner, lunch, or brunch, you're sure to rediscover the delight of truly local food. TerraMae is a perfect location for large groups and private dining experiences.

“Should be Number 1 in Chattanooga”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2013

First- Free valet parking. I went here during Chattanooga Riverbend with activities less than one block away and expected everywhere to be jammed packed. We pulled right up and saw there was free valet parking and avoided ALL the riverbend activities. Second- It was Friday at 7pm and we were seated with no reservation. Third- the decor was upscale but homey. Forth- They offered a variety of adult beverages which I had never heard of before. They were made to perfection.

The menu offered a eclectic assortment of what appeared to be southern favorites but all had a pleasant culinary twist. We had the lamb biscuits as an appetizer. PURE HEAVEN. We also had what we thought was going to be a vidalia onion casserole but turned out to be a much more healthy and delicious alternative- not cheesy as the traditional favorite. We then shared the Appalacian lunchable (deviled eggs, pimento spread, picked shrimp, picked vegetables and maple bacon with country ham and biscuits) which sounded to me like it would come out covered in country gravy. Instead, it was a surprisingly light and sophisticated combination of these country favorites. Dessert- we had the brown butter walnut pie, which was very sweet but tasteful.

I am a slave to tripadvisor but I can tell you this should be the Number 1 rated restaurant in Chattanooga (and yes I've eaten at St. John's).

“We visited on consecutive nightse”

Excellent experience. We were in town two nights and had reservations at another restaurant but returned to TerrraMae. The chef is outstanding and if available ask for Lindsey or Shawn to serve you. Both make the experience extra special. Menu and wine list are excellent and overall a great value. We will be back

“Wow. Just...Wow.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2013

Heard from a friend at home (GA) that this place really had it going on. We were in town wasting some time with the kiddos ( and since when did Chattanooga become so much fun?!) and stopped by this place for a drink and a snack. Bar keep was outstanding- had plenty to offer in the way of knowledge...hard to find in bartenders these days. And the drinks...oh boy, the drinks. Where did this kid learn this stuff? The spicy berry tequila drink is legitimately one of the best things I've ever tasted. Just blown away.
Snacks were to die for..although I think they were called something different on the menu (smalls?). LAMB AND BISCUITS ALL THE WAY!!! I will be in town on business soon, and I know where I'm going to be eating/drinking!

“Very well done!”

Along with a fellow conventioneer, we walked up to this restaurant from the Marriott and had a most excellent meal and outing. It was a little hard to find at first, but once spotted, the ambiance and the overall atmosphere was perfect for us. The food was quality was outstanding and the service was attentive. The prices were fair given Farm to Table, which takes extra preparation. We recommended to others in our group.

“Freshest and Best place around downtown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2013

We were traveling from Northern Georgia, and had heard about the other restaurants in town like St John's and others, but since we were staying here, we decided to try TerraMae. Oh my gosh! It was wonderful! We loved the craft cocktails before dinner (from Jason I think) and then we shared the whole snapper at dinner! Superb! Great atmosphere. Well done!
