Chattanooga has done a wonderful job of utilizing its river front and converting this to a pedestrian bridge enables walkers to get back and forth from downtown to the funky North Shore with ease. Great job, Chattanooga!

I really couldn't understand why a bridge was the number one "thing to do" on TripAdvisor. My family visited Chattanooga, getting in around 8 p.m. We didn't really want to do anything that cost money so we went to the bridge. We ended up going back to the bridge every day. It has two beautiful parks at one side. Plenty of people were out and there was a nice police presence. We heard musicians, Prom pictures were being taken by plenty of girls, people were walking their dogs, and the crowd was being courteous. On the other side, there is everything! We went to the Ice Cream Shop, walked on the glass walkway over the Interstate, and went below the bridge to see art, fountains, and musicians. It was really just a pleasant place to be at.

Such an enjoyable walk on the bridge at night time. My 4-year-old enjoyed running ahead of us, and it was nice to let him run ahead of us knowing no cars would be able to hit him (beware of bikes though!). The sun was setting so the view was pretty amazing to capture. Parking was only $1 for us (up to 2 hours). Definitely will be going back to visit on our next trip to Chattanooga.

The best part - it's free!

The longest pedestrian Bridge per some locals was a great walk across the Tennessee river the shops on either side did not really spike my interest but a great relaxing way to walk across you can take your pet along too and it has several benches you can just sit and relax looking at the river and McClellan Island from one side or the other bridges and the mountains from the other side.
There is an ice cream / coffee shop right at the beginning from downtown across from the Hunter Fine Art museum I did not like the Ice Cream but locals did recommend it may be you would.

but what I am sure of is you will love that walk.

Definitely worth walking, although to some it may seems a bit long. On each end of the bridge there are many places to go for a drink or meal. I would recommend a night walk so you can enjoy the illuminated Aquarium on one side and hilly Northshore on the other.
