If you have kids and want to give them a treat on a hot day this would be a good choice. There were lots of families and smiling faces as we walked by the fountains and watched the carousel briefly.
Saw lots of students playing frisbee in the large grass area.
Remember to ride the carousel before playing in the water as NO wet clothes or feet are allowed in the carousel building or on the ride.

What were the city leaders thinking when they built a park in a high crime area? The carousel and the fountain are nice. That is all the park has to offer.
The parking is difficult, other than the fountain and the carousel, the park has nothing to offer. Notice all the park police and you can believe they are there for a reason! As dusk approaches you can watch the park filling up with street gangs.
The shops near the park are over priced significantly. Employees tend to view customers as transient tourists and don't expect repeat business and treat customers with that attitude.
If you don't have small children don't go there. If you have small children the carousel is worth the visit and expect them to want to play in the water fountain. Take a bathing suit and a towel. Visit in morning or mid-day and keep your eye on your belongings.

Coolidge park is a nice large park that fronts the river. You can take a walk by the river or play in the large open grassy space. There is a large fountain for kids to play in & get wet. There is also a carousel kids can ride (for 1.00 while dry). There are also several shops that back up to the park where you can get food or ice cream or just window shop. Overall its a nice place to spend the afternoon.
Some draw backs include a lack of seating - sit on the ground-
and a lack of shade - good luck with that one.
