We needed a place to camp between Chicago and Tybee Island, GA. We drove the first day to Chatanooga and ended up at this campground.

Everything went really well. The staff was friendly and helpful, our site was large and wooded and we slept very well because it was so quiet and peaceful.

The pool looked nice and busy, but we didn't swim. The bathhouse was clean, but small and dated. It had 3 toilets, 2 showers and a sink area. It was pretty crowded so we weren't able to shower there.

If this campground had better bathhouses, I'd rate it five stars. We had a wonderful experience for our first night of camping,

Room Tip: We were in site 100 and it was wooded and quiet.

The camping cabins were very reasonably priced. We stayed in cabin 4 with a 1/2 bath. It was suitable for 4 people. The property here was beautiful with hiking trails, and a very nice pool. Shower houses were kept clean, and the stone tiles in them were very pretty. The office offered many supplies such as camp gear (great for those like me who always seem to forget something). The only thing I didn't like about Raccoon Mountain campground was that everything (pool, arcade, go-carts) closed so early. The kids wanted to go play video games on Sunday afternoon, but it was already closed, and it was still daylight (5:30 p.m.) The pool closed at 8 p.m. even on weekends. That would be my only complaint about this place. Other than that, a great time was had by all.

We took a road trip with our teenage grandaughters and based on a recommendation from a fellow traveler we stopped at Raccoon Mountain. We all loved the place! It was clean, well maintained, and the staff was very friendly. The cavern tour was great! The girls enjoyed the tour, loved the go kart track and the pool. No complaints from us, we'd definitely stay there again!

Had a really bad customer service experience with them. I could write a book, but I'll just say I don't understand people that work a customer service counter that don't want to deal with people. The bathrooms and showers were disgusting and the showers are ridiculously small. You have the shower stall and then about two feet of tile between the shower stall and privacy curtain with no chair or anything to set your stuff on. Small sites and the campground is on a sidehill so the sites are not anywhere near level. It is at least in a good location.
