We traveled from Crossville to visit family. They had been to the mellow mushroom before and never had a problem. This time no one had an enjoyable time.
First, the service was terrible. Our waitress was aloof and not very attentive except to the other patrons that were drinking beer. It was a Saturday afternoon and we had our daughter and wanted to go to some attractions. Our waitress didn't even deliver our food. When she finally showed up and we told her we wanted the check we waited 20 minutes and she was still somewhere else. We were tempted to leave without paying, but we decided to go in to pay. The 10 other people working there doing nothing told us we had to give the money to out server. When we said we were leaving someone finally took our money.
Second, when we were seated they put us in nasty, cloth covered, stained seats. Yuk! We decided to sit outside because the inside was dark and too loud. The music outside was kind of loud too, but not as bad as inside. This was in the afternoon, not in the evening when it would be more appropriate.
Third, the food SUCKED! We ordered 2 appetizers. The chicken wings that were suppose to come with a tai chili sauce. They came with watery blue cheese and some sort of Italian dressing. They were also suppose to be baked, but tasted like they were deep fried. They were small and we only got maybe 8 pieces for around $10.00.
The spinach and artichoke dip was good, but only a small portion. The bread pieces that came with it were hard enough to chip teeth. It was the only thing my daughter would eat. Also, about $10.00.
The pizza was not very good either. We got the mauwi pizza and the flavors just clashed terribly, not to mention the gastro intestinal problems that it caused to all of us, except my daughter who would not eat it. There was not enough pineapple or bacon on it, but lots of jerk chicken that I was taking off, because there was too much of it and it didn't taste that great. Also, I think the banana peppers clashed too much with the other flavors, jalapeno peppers would have been better.
We spent over $50.00 and left disappointed. This does not include a tip, because the service was sooo bad I only left $1.00 and I always leave a minimum of 15% usually 20%.
