Lobby is beautiful. Good restaurant and ballrooms. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good deal on priceline. The quality of the room does make this a 4 star hotel. Room was dusty as if not cleaned recenlty. Tile in bath needed to be replaced. Rooms are not sound proof. Could hear other guests. Nice flat screen tv and nice furniture and decor.

Good: Great location just a few blocks from the River, the Aquarium and other attractions. There are 2 restaurants. Broad Street Grille is on the pricier side. Foundry has small entress and appetizers, but they are good. The other spot was closed due to the weather i suppose. Both have the option for room service, but you are better off saving the $3 service charge and 18% gratuity and just walking down and getting a carry out and taking it back to yout room.

Bad: The parking deck is several feet from the hotel.. So if its cold or raining (or snowing in our case) you will want to do valet which can cost between $10 - $15 a day. Luckily we dealt with it and trotted across the courtyard. It was free to park.

Ugly: The carpet was nasty as can be. There were stains of all colors. Otherwise the room was clean except for the phone, it could have used a really good wipe down. Looked like old soda has spilled all over and under it..

All in all though, the front desk was friendly and so were the staff. Overall nice, but the carpets are scary!

I spend a lot of time in Chattanooga and have stayed at all the major hotels in the downtown areadin the last few years. After reading some of these trip advisor complaints, I have to say that I've never been dissappointed with the Chattanoogan. The service has always been above average, the staff are very friendly, the bar and restaraunt are reliably high quality, and overall the accomodations are nice. I have been there on nights when there are noisy parties, and I have been there on nights when it feels as though I am the only guest. It is the nature of the hotel business and I have never thought to hold the hotel staff responsible for what their guests decide to do. The location is great because while being on the quieter end of downtown, the center of town is easily accesibly by a two minute drive or by taking the free shuttle that picks up a block away. There are two options for parking which are valet or garage parking, the spa facilities are exactly what I would expect to find in this sort of hotel, and room service and the coffee shop are available. Overall this is by far the best hotel in Chattanooga in terms of service and quality. I was there a week ago and they are beginning a complete remodeling of the rooms so I am eager see the improvements.

Our family stayed here on our way home from Florida. The check-in process was smooth until we got to our room and we found only one king bed when the reservation was for four people. We had to wait a half and hour to get another room that ended up being directly across the hall. The room was nothing special and we noticed cobwebs in many corners. To put it midly the cleaning staff does not show attention to details. One good thing that we can say is that the room service was very good. Ok, now with the bad. At around 11:30 pm we were woken up by what sounded like a porn film being filmed in the room next to us. Complete with [--] me harder being screamed over and over again. Loved it when my daughter asked, "mommy what is going on?". Called the desk and they said that they would send securtiy up. Well, security came up and it stopped, but then started again an hour later. Next at 1 am there were teenagers running up and down the halls yelling and making a bunch of noise with some kind of horn thing. Desk called again. Yelling stopped, but the happened all over again, but this time at 3:45 am. Each time my family of five was startled awake and had difficulty going back to sleep. The noise began again at 6 am, at that point we were done and left. The walls are PAPER THIN. You will hear anything and everything in this hotel and the staff does not do a good job to help with the crazy people that stayed there when we had the misfortune of trying to get some sleep after a 12 hour drive.

First of all, this was a decent hotel. It wasn't over the top. It wasn't a dump. It was okay. We purchased our stay at Prieline.com and got the room for about 60% of the published rate. I would be VERY upset if I had paid full price for this room. When we got there, we parked in the parking garage and toted our baggage across the courtyard. It is not too far, but I wouldn't want to carry a week's worth of luggage across the way. We got to the desk and the attendant was in training, so it took a while to get checked in.

Our room was average. The beds were not comfortable. Instead of using real pillow-top mattresses, they had a thick pad that laid on top of the mattress. It was not very comfortable. I would think that a "four star" hotel would go ahead and spring for the nice mattresses. Also, the room had a huge television armoire that had a nice opening for the television, but for some reason the tv was sitting on top of the armoire. Again, not a big deal for comfort, but it didn't look like the way a nice hotel would do things. Keep in mind that the rooms apparently do not have refrigerators, so don't plan on bringing back leftovers from dinner.

You do have to pay to park, something that you have to deal with at most downtown hotels. The hotel is very convenient to the free downtown shuttle system, so it is a good option for those wishing to visit the Chattanooga riverfront.

All in all, enjoy your stay here, but do not pay the full price.

My family has stayed at this hotel twice now, both times in the month of November. Does this hotel ever have any significant occupancy? Each time, we feel as if we are the only people staying in the hotel, staffed with just enough employees to barely get by. Service is practically nonexistent. Again, we figured November must be their low season and so they staff it accordingly. It gives you an eerie feeling walking down the halls in the evenings.

Having said that, once we are in our rooms, it is a very pleasant experience. We stay in a suite with a connecting double bed room. You cannot beat the price for the accommodations - comfortable beds, large bathrooms, nice amenities.

One weird thing though: We had called down to have the inner doors to the connecting rooms opened. After 30 minutes of waiting and one call down to the front desk, the employee just unlocked and entered our hotel room without knocking first. I think he saw the shock on my face and was a little embarrassed. Needless to say, we used our chain on the door after that.

My husband and I spent a weekend at the Chattanoogan in Nov 2009. The hotel is very nice. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. The one time we had dinner in the Broad Street Grille was wonderful. The food was excellent and the service fantastic. We have visited Chattanooga many times over the years and we always enjoy it. This was one of the best experiences we have ever had there. We highly recommend it.
