“Great place to stay”
Reviewed May 19, 2012

When I read these other reviews, I was very worried. I'm not sure why people said this was an unsafe industrial area? We didnt have any issues or feel unsafe at all. It is located near the highway, and certainly not in the suburbs. But I think industrial is a bit of an exaggeration.
We chose the king pillow top bed, and it was very comfy. We didnt notice any bad smells, and didnt have any noise problems at all. We were there for 3 nights, and the service was fine. It was mostly clean. The only complaint I would have is that the door into the building and the door to our room was dirty, which gave a somewhat bad impression. But overall for the money, I would definately stay here again.

Room Tip: Choose the king size pillow top bed. Well worth the extra few dollars.

There is absolutely nothing positive to say about this facility. The place is filthy, the carpets, both in the halls and the room, were stained, the smell was less than desirable, and the area looks sketchy and maybe even unsafe. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.

I apologize for any inconvience you may have felt during your stay. I assure you that we are not in an unsafe area. I realize that stained carpets may give an appearance of dirt, but our carpets are cleaned regularly. Stains happen at every hotel from guests who accidently spill beverages. We are an older hotel, but I assure you that we are clean and working on upgrades to be completed this year which will include new carpeting. I hope that you will give us another try in the future.

Looking over some of the other reviews, I was a tad hesitant about this hotel, but thought we'd stop in and at least see a room before we wrote them off. I was very happy with the room and was pleased with the stay. Even with at least 3 girls basketball teams staying there the same evening we were, it was peaceful. We had room 101, right near the front desk and pool entrance. The TV's are tube style, but they are at least a 25" screen if not larger with an excellent satellite source so the picture is crisp and clean. Upgrading them would most likely also demand a change in furniture as the tv's are housed in a dresser/entertainment center combo unit. Bathroom and room was clean and comfortable with plenty of floor space for our infant daughters sleeper. Breakfast was also good, waffle iron at the ready, oatmeal, eggs, sausage, yogurt, OJ, milk, apple juice, coffee, bread(toast), bagels, assorted pastries/muffins etc.

This place rocks if you are traveling with a pet. There is a large fenced in area where dogs can be let off lease to run and doggy bags for dealing with their business. Location is convenient to downtown and places of interest and the staff is Southern hospitality at its best.
Room was a little small and the TV reception was a little quirky.

1. One elevator out of service, whether just trying to save money or if it was actually broken remains unknown.

2. The property has a run down feel to it.

3. The aqua fresca being served in the lobby was made with sour oranges. Just ice water would have been preferable to bitter water.

4. The "best breakfast ever" the check-in staff promised had powdered eggs. It's almost better not to have eggs over powdered eggs, so you don't get your hopes up. The rest of the breakfast was ok, the breakfast staff on hand was trying very hard and impressed me.

5. The entire 14 hours I was on the property there was a SEC contractor's truck blocking the canopied area over the entrance where you pull up to check in/out out of the rain. These guys were NOT actually working there, they just decided that spot was their own personal garage.

6. The SEC contractors (there were at least a dozen taking up every available breakfast table) were done eating, just hanging around cursing loudly(mf mf mf) while other people stood while trying to eat off plates since there was nowhere else to sit.

While I realize properties like this are beholden to large groups, when said groups impinge on other guests's stay it's the managers responsibility to identify the problem and attempt to mitigate it.

7, The shower head in my room was broken.

8. The refrigerator was so loud I wore earplugs to sleep.

Thank you for your review. One of the elevators is out of order. We are in the process of having it fixed and it is a costly repair and we look forward to having it back in service. This property is an older property but very clean. We are also making a lot of new upgrades which include carpet, tvs, and drapes. I do hope you will visit us again.
