“Best Italian in Chattanooga”

We had dinner and it was wonderful. Fried Calamari as a starter was very tasty. Then we had one lasagna and taglialini bolognese. I thought it was as good as I used to get at the Brusssels in New York years ago.

It was Tuesday night and they were full! I'll be back very soon.

“Best Itaian Food in Chattanooga--Bar None”

As a previous reviewer noted, Boccaccia is a bit tricky to find, but well worth the effort. It is located in the Southern Saddlery Building, just south of the railroad overpass. There is a small sign on the building, and parking is on the side. It is a very short ride from the downtown hotels and on the way to the Lookout Mountain attractions. Befitting its industrial roots, the room has high ceilings bare brick walls.
Luciano, the owner, is originally from Milan, Italy. He has learned his native cuisine well. The menu hasn't changed much in since they've been opened, but it is large and varied enough so the selections never seems stale. The descriptions below are from my memory of only part of the menu.
Calamari or mussels are always good appetizer choices. Insalata "Mama Mia" is a bit different, salad greens topped with grilled vegetables and a creamy goat cheese dressing. The field greens with dried cranberries, etc is lightly dressed with a lemon vinaigrette.
The pastas are consistently excellent: Bolognese is comfort food at its finest, Linguini Veneziana combines shellfish with zucchini in a white wine sauce, and the nontraditional Niccotera features rigatoni in a mild tomato-based curry with chicken and shiitake mushrooms. If only Marco Polo had returned from the East with the recipe for Niccotera instead of ice cream! The lasagna portion is not large. It is dressed with a tomato sauce and bechamel, not the heavy, gooey cheese-laden creations most of us have become accustomed to.
The pastas are so delicious that I rarely venture to other entree items. The rack of lamb is well prepared and tasty. There is a beef steak which I've never tried, salmon with spinach and roasted potatoes and either sole or flounder.
Service is good and professional. The wine list is exclusively Italian and features a number of bottles one won't find elsewhere in Chattanooga. The wines, like the food, are fairly priced.

“Very good Italian cuisine.”

I've been to Chattanooga twice and have eaten at Boccacccia both times. The first time was by chance, the second was no accident. Good service, wonderful food, fresh pasta. This place is worth trying.

The restaurant is a little hard to find. You can't pull into their parking lot directly off the street, so keep your eyes open.
