“Best Fried Chicken and Tamales in East Tennessee”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

The fried chicken is some of the best I've had, the tamales are excellent, and the baked beans remind me of my grandmothers. The atmosphere is really cool too and the prices are great.

“good chicken, slaw and beans”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

great place for lunch and they are usually very busy, great fried chicken and comes with fresh made cold slaw and beans (pork beans mixed with kidney)
service is good but since the chicken is cooked to order usually takes a little while

“Wonderful fried chicken”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013

Located on MLK Boulevard, this restaurant offers great fried chicken and "fixins". I arrived at 10:50 on Sunday morning, and was the first to get there for the 11 AM opening. Within 20 minutes, the place was full. The decorations are eclectic and "campy". The food was good and the service was excellent. I will make this a regular stop on future Chattanooga trips.

“Long waits, good but unremarkable.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

Chicken was crispy and hot, but only spice was salt...sadly flavorless! Baked beans were nice, not overly sweet like most. Coleslaw was good. Fried green tomatoes were wonderful. Servers never smiled or acted the least bit pleased we were there...not really worth the wait in my opinion. Good, but so is IHOP.

“Long waits but great food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

My wife and I do not usually like these types of places but we gave it a shot because of all of the great reviews. We were not disappointed. Now the place is far from sanitary looking and be warned, your clothes will smell like fried chicken when you leave, but you will get your money's worth as far as the food goes. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly and the service is only decent at best (long wait for food) and be prepared to wait because the place has a small and cozy feeling. The fried chicken is delicious and big. Two pieces is all anyone regular person will need. The coleslaw and the beans are even better than the chicken which never happens anywhere! Also, when you go make sure you try the hush-puppies which are also very good. I would definitely go back but next time I'll bring a change of clothes.
