“Chicken Good. Livers NOT.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

Atmosphere unique, blues motif. Several in party of eight reported fried chicken as very good. I had the chicken livers and found them WAAAY overcooked, almost too dry for consumption. Were I not in a group they would have gone back

“Fantastic Southern Fried Chicken”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

Champy's is an excellent place to enjoy some of the the best fried chicken you will ever eat.
Today I chose a three piece dark meat plate with the stated sides that come with it, slaw, which is some of the best I've ever tasted anywhere, and baked beans, again like the slaw, some of the best ever and unique in flavor to Champy's.
The chicken is moist, tender, and flavorful all the way to the bone. And, the batter is crisp and unlike anything anywhere else. No grease here either.
The atmosphere is fun and extremely casual.
The catfish is very good as well.
There are other sides that have received excellent reviews.
When near or in Downtown Chattanooga, this place is an absolute must.

“Good fried chicken”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

We stopped here on our trip into Chattanooga for lunch. It was a Friday around 11:40 and it was packed!

We waited for about 15 minutes for a seat. Really good fried chicken. Not like your grandmother who really knows how to cook it. But the other grandmother who does a really good job at it. We ordered green beans and mashed potatoes. The green beans were a little on the oniony / garlicy side (we could not place it). The taters were fine and the kids liked the gravy.

All in all a good visit. Service was good. A little on the pricey side for fried chicken, but we liked it.

Sweet tea was a tab bit on the semi-sweet side. In the South, your sweet tea should be sweet. Just sayin.

“Awesome - need a 6th circle!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

We are SO happy we visited this institution!! The service was fantastic, the food fabulous and the decor fun! The restroom walls are filled with album covers and vinyls. People sign dollar bills and place them on the walls - they come from all over the world. The chicken is quite marvelous and I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a local restaurant with lots of personality.

“The best fried chicken in Chattanooga”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013

Since Champy's opened in 2009, they have owned the title of best fried chicken in Chattanooga. But don't forget the other food items on the menu! The tamales and smoked sausage plate are great. And you'll be blown away by meatiness of the chicken tenders.

Enjoy an ice-cold 40-ounce beer and get a Champy's 40-ounce koozie to take home.

The interior dining area is not very big, but it's welcoming, with walls and ceiling covered with interesting items.

The covered outdoor seating area is great in the summer or winter.

The staff and ownership truly care about the success of their restaurant, and it shows through their service and quality of food.

You can't go wrong with Champy's.
