“Comfort on the Modern side, just off the interstate.”
Reviewed May 20, 2012

We were on our way to the mountains of North Georgia, and wanted to break up the drive. We drove to Chattanooga and spent the night at the Marriott Residence Inn near Hamilton Place. There is another one down town but this one is much more modern and a little quieter even though it is closer to the Interstate.
We had a quiet night's rest. My wife loved the fireplace. The food was the typical for Residence Inn for breakfast. We were not there in time for the Manager's reception. Everything was spic and span clean for those of you that know what spic and span is or was.
The staff were their usual upbeat smiling personable selves.
The chain is very dependable, but this was definitely one of the nicer facilities.

We've been there twice now and had a great stay both times. The first time we made it in time for the Manager's Social and there must have been 25 men standing around waiting (there was a meeting taking place at the hotel) and when the social started everyone got served a great taco or taco salad dinner. There was plenty of food and the wait staff was very helpful and nice. There was beer, wine and soft drinks for everyone as well as coffee for my wife, fresh brewed.
The rooms are always clean and fresh. Our first stay we got a corner one bedroom room with a gas fireplace, very nice. Our second stay was also a one bedroom, also clean and fresh.
We have made Residence Inns our hotel of choice when traveling, not only for the rooms but the amenities: Free Wi-Fi that has sufficient speed for most tasks; a good breakfast to get you going in the morning for the next leg of your journey and if you are lucky enough to get there on time, the Manager's Social.
All Residence Inns are good, some better than others, the Residence Inn Chattanooga near Hamilton Place is one of the best.

My faith in Marriott has been renewed! The staff is excellent as is the property!
Comfortable, clean, well appointed rooms had lots of space and were quiet.
We enjoyed our time with family when we gathered in the spacious lobby. We were convenient to the Mall, restaurants, and the interstate. I would definitely stay here again as well as recommend to others! Breakfast was a real treat- much
more than cold cereal!

Room Tip: I booked on line(Marriott.com) and no problems- requests were honored.

We booked a night here using Marriott Rewards and upon time to travel discovered that it was intelligible. By the time we realized it the hotel was booked. We placed multiple phone calls to Marriott Corporate and we not very hopeful that things would work out in our favor. We placed ONE phone call to the actual hotel property and Brittany, the sales manager worked it out for us an even called corporate on our behalf! When we checked in the room was clean comfortable and nice.

The property is not too far off of the highway but is a little past other hotels. It is worth the tiny extra drive though! They have a putting green, indoor pool, a fire pit with luxurious seating outside, a nice workout room and laundry facilities. If you call ahead or are stayin more than one might they will even grocery shop for you!! Breakfast was fabulous with many healthy options as well as the standard waffles and eggs. We even found our favorite green smoothie drink for sale in the market with no price gauging!!

Can't say enough good about this place. Oh one last delight... In the lobby/ breakfast area they have individual high wall booths that seat 5-6 each with their own flat screen tv! Super nice for watching the morning news and corralling the kids.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3. Every one of the helpful reviews were right on the money. We stayed using free vouchers we received through our Marriott Rewards Visa card, but at the rack rate of $149 for this type of room (see description below), we felt like that was a fair price - but if you are a Marriott Rewards customer, try to use points to maximize your value where you can.

From what I understand, this hotel is not but about 3 years old. The hotel is clean, well kept, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in a corner fireplace room on the 5th floor. It was spacious and reminded me of a small studio with the kitchenette with full-sized refrigerator (with ice maker), oven with range, microwave, and dishwasher. The room also had a garbage disposal and includes the basic 4-set of plates, flatware, glasses, coffee mugs, basic cooking utensils and cookware. The king-sized bed was comfortable and the sofa folded out into a bed if needed. The gas fireplace was a nice touch on Saturday evening when it was much cooler outside. And the free Wifi worked with no hiccups or problems.

The breakfast area was one of the better ones I've experienced with scrambled eggs, sausage, potato/pepper/onion medley, Texas-toast sized french toast slices, Oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, an assortment of yogurts and mini-milk bottles (including 2% white, 2% chocolate and Skim), fresh fruits (bananas, apples) plus your assortment of breads (some seem home made!), muffins, bagels, and all the condiments which go along with those items. And the ability to make your own Belgian waffles was nice, with the added bonus of being able to add blueberries or strawberry fruit topping and whipped cream to them being a nice touch! The breakfast area is open from 7am - 10am on the weekends, and opens slightly earlier during the week. There is also a coffee, tea and hot chocolate area which stays available 24/7 which includes all the fixins including liquid half and half and International Coffees flavored French Vanilla. The breakfast area never seemed too crowded as I've experienced at other hotels.

The hotel does not have an outdoor pool. But it does have an indoor pool and whirlpool which we used that first evening. It was really nice and not crowded at the time we used it (early evening on Friday night). The exercise room adjacent to the pool area was small and had an eliptical machine, a treadmill, a recumbent bike and a weight area with workout bench. The exercise machines had their own built in TVs and the hotel offered complimentary headphones to use if you forgot to bring yours from home. I just used my iPhone with my tunes to work out. There is also a small putting green with putters and balls available for checkout from the front desk. There is also a courtyard area where people can congregate outdoors on nice days with a gas grill if one wanted to cook something outside. During the week, the hotel offers a reception with free finger foods and drinks, which we missed out on due to the fact we were only there Friday and Saturday.

The only drawback to the room was the closets were "hidden" - we didn't know our room had one until we were checking out and were informed by front desk staff that it was located behind our bedroom door which we never closed! (hahaha). Also, the bathroom door was too long to comfortably close - I would suggest replacing with folding french doors to make opening and closing easier in the small space.

Another drawback to getting to the hotel is the lack of good signage directing us to the street. The hotel is on Center Street, which is off of the main street, Lee Street. We passed Center Street and had to turn around to get to the hotel. It is not far from the intersection of Lee and Shallowford. Better signage would prevent this problem, but it is minor considering you can get adequate directions through either Google Maps or Mapquest.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again if we ever return to Chattanooga.

Room Tip: Ask for the corner room with a fireplace if you are using a Marriott Rewards Certificate or points...

We stayed at this Residence Inn for two nights last week, and we found it to be a very nice hotel. It is extremely clean, and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. To a person, they were pleasant and accommodating.

The decor is extremely modern--not our taste, but more important to us was the overall cleanliness of the establishment.

We had two rooms (one for my husband and I, and one for our adult sons to share), and both were well appointed and thoughtfully laid out. We did not have suites, so each of our rooms had one king bed and a fold-out queen sofa. Everything (TV, plumbing, etc.) worked exactly as it should, and the rooms were very comfortable.

The breakfast provided was a really pleasant surprise. It was way more than the typical "free" breakfast of cold cereal, toast and yogurt. There were several hot choices (eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, french toast) as well as the usual "sides." Really delicious. The location close to the Hamilton Place Mall ensures that you will have many good restaurant options for your other meals.

All in all, this Residence Inn has made it more likely that we will consider Residence Inns in other locations. Previously, we had only one experience with them, and it wasn't very positive due to the age and condition of the one we tried.

One note about the location: If you need to be somewhere around the morning, noon or evening rush hours, add a few extra minutes to your plans. This area does get very congested at those times.

We got the Aquarium package (no discount over purchasing tickets on-site or online, but convenient to get the vouchers ahead of time), but mistakenly thought we were staying closer to the Aquarium. Silly us! This hotel is located about 20 minutes via Interstate from the Aquarium. There is a Residence Inn (no connection to this hotel) one block from the Aquarium.

This hotel is clean, great staff, and excellent pool/spa. The weird thing about our room was that the interior design is bizarre. There was a furniture corner exposed right next to the couch, making it possible to hit yourself really hard if you aren't paying close attention. Also, the bathroom door and commode are configured in such a way that you almost always hit yourself with the bathroom door when you enter and exit (maddening)!

This hotel is PET-FRIENDLY. We saw several pets!

PROS: Clean, clean, clean. Free parking. WIFI is quick for a hotel.

CONS: Street entrance to this hotel is NOT marked well. Call the Front Desk to get specific directions. Also, be careful moving through your room, especially if you have small children to ensure no one will bump into edges of furniture or doors.
