A local told us it is best to do at sunset. I personally didn't love it. But it's an alright deal if you buy the combo tickets for ruby falls, etc.

The ride is very interesting, and the views spectacular.

We rode on a clear day, and we could see all over.

My wife is a little squeamish, but did OK going up and down.

Good narration and the conductor was very friendly.

I thought it was a bit pricey fro the ride, but it was fun.

Thank David R

The mile-long incline railroad provided quite the view as we went to the top of Lookout Mountain. Even though we were on top on a cloudy and hazy morning, we enjoyed the Chattanooga valley and Tennessee River views. We went in early morning and if we would have waited to later in the day, the wait for the incline would have been significantly longer. We walked to the military park at the top of the mountain where both confederate and union soldiers are commemorated (the only park in the south where this happens) but it was closed because of the government shutdown. We took the time to stroll among the mansions at the top which were not necessarily opulent but architecturally interesting, especially the stonework. A wonderful adventure to take the world's steepest incline, view fabulous vistas and walk the history we heard on the incline. If you are frightened of heights, you may want to rethink this venture since the world's steepest incline does not have the speed of a roller coaster but certainly the feel!

Price was ok....the actaul views from the tram we limited. At the top the views from the observatory were much better. Amazing that this was built so long ago. The motor/engine room was pretty cool. Walk down to Point Park was a waste since it was closed. Lines waiting for the tram we long. If we visit Chattanooga again we will most likely pass on this attraction.

We enjoyed our ride on the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway! I think it was more dramatic going up than down. What an experience!! And what a terrific view!! After arriving at the top, we visited the Chattanooga National Military Park, just a short walk from the station. There were some cool pictures inside the gift shop area, of the original railway, etc. Check them out, if you can! This is another piece of Americana in the Chattanooga area, and we had a great time here!!
