We decided to make this part of a three attraction day around Lookout Mountain. We parked at the bottom, paid the $2 for all day parking, and proceeded to the station. We had our picture taken by one of the train staff members and then waited only 10 minutes for the next train to go up the mountain. The view is spectacular and as you ride up backwards, you can feel yourself sitting straight up by the time you reach about halfway. Our 9 year old daughter was giggling and pointing the entire way up and down. For variety, we sat in the back on the way up and at the front on the way down. It gave an interesting perspective being at either end of the car.

Once at the top we had the opportunity to purchase our picture taken at the bottom and it was an inexpensive souvenir of our ride. We then walked the 3 blocks to Point Park, the National Civil War Monument and toured that in about 45 minutes. The walk back to the Incline Railway was peaceful. Once we got to the upper station, the 10 minute wait for another car down was a bit chilly because the wind was blowing. But the view, even from the station, is breath-taking.

This is a great attraction and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a leisurely, exciting ride.

We love the ride up and back down the mountain. Our conductor was very knowledgeable about the mountain and its history even above and beyond the recorded messages. Depending on the time of the year, so many different things are within view.

The incline is impressive, great views of the surrounding area. I'd definitely suggest going from the bottom as my sat nav took me up Lookout Mountain to go down to the base. Worth a visit.

We waited 35 minutes at the bottom station to ride up the mountain. The views really aren't that amazing. Mostly houses and buildings. The sensation at the top is pretty neat as you are arriving at the top station. We got off the train, explored the gift shop, walked to the civil war battle site and then waited about 45 minutes in the cold, cold wind to ride back down. If I could have figured out another way to get back down to our van, I would have taken it rather than stand for so long waiting. When you're at the top, be sure to visit the National Military Historic Site. It makes the 10 minute ride feel a little more worthwhile.

This is one of the most exciting and fun things to do in Chattanooga. It's so unusual it's great. I've done it since I was little and I never get tired or bored with the amazing incline
