We really enjoyed it......on the day we went it was a bit cold, but well worth it. When we got to the top it was snowing and the view was just awesome. I really would like to try it again in a warm climate. you can catch the rail car at the bottom or drive up and catch it going down. Nice little gift shops. Good for kids and adults too. you wont be disappointed!

This is the steepest incline in the world--72%. It is family friendly and a pleasant trip for the family. It costs $15 per person, but if you're vacationing, you should ride it. At the top, be sure to walk the short distance to the Civil War park. Even if you don't go inside, the view and the houses along the street are amazing.

Despite a very, very long line we were able to get on the incline railway car quite quickly. Sitting in the front car going backwards was an interesting experience and the view at the top was well worth the rather pricey ticket. We did not spend much time in the gift store/restaurant area but rather took a stroll around the neighborhood near the railway as there are many gorgeous homes with killer views.

A trip to Chattanooga just isn't complete without visiting Lookout Mountain and going on the Incline Railway! A trip on a large, tracked cable car up a 72.7% grade is nothing short of awesome! You can park either at the bottom or the top of the mountain (advice: park at the bottom and ride up; parking is $2.00 all day vice metered parking at the top at $0.25 per 15 minutes). Trains leave both stations approximately every 15-20 minutes. There is a tiny souvenir shop at the bottom of the mountain, and a larger shop with a cafe at the top. Standard hot dogs, chips, popcorn, sodas kind of place. There was also a bakery selling sweets, but overall, nothing to write home about. There is the Battles for Chattanooga museum within walking distance of the top station, but the best part is climbing up to the observatory. There, you can get the BEST views of downtown Chattanooga and the Tennessee River. True, you do pass a lot of trashy backyards, etc. on the way up, but definitely worth the time and money to check it out!

Chattanooga landmark. Worth the trip to find it. I saw a smaller version of our Incline in Budapest, Hungary this year. What a surprise! Completely safe and worth your time. Just go up and down. Not anything worth your time at top or bottom, as far as shops go.
