The incline railroad is one of a kind and is so smooth, both going up and coming down. Once you get to the top the view is spectacular, if it's not cloudy, but be preapred for clouds. Even if your head is in the clouds, it's worth the visit.

Beautiful landscape and views. You could see the entire city it seemed.

Lookout mountain is not an attraction, but a place, specifically a large rock outcropping over-looking the city of Chattanooga Tenn. The mountain does have several attractions on it including Ruby Falls, Rock City, and the Inclined Railway. These are privately owned tourist attractions(traps) that have their own TripAdvisor page and charge their own fees. Lookout Mtn. dose not charge any fees. At the top of the mountain is a plateau with a regular residential neighborhood and at the highest point to the north is Point Park. Point Park is a national park and civil war battleground, and for the purpose of this review, constitutes Lookout Mountain.

The day I visited the park, there was no charge and almost no other visitors. It offered incredible views of both Tennessee and Georgia. The city of Chattanooga is below and you can easily see the whole of the metropolitan area. Placards around the park inform you to the history of the site, including much of the important battles of the civil war, which were fought here. There are several pathways throughout the park, which follow the natural topography of the site. Some are rather close to the cliff edges and parents with little children should keep them close.

If you are a civil war buff this place is a must see, but it also offers very serine and beautiful views for those simply looking to get away for the day. It is incredible to imagine fighting a battle over this terrain, and some of the places were the cannon are placed would indeed offer quite the advantaged over the city below.

We decided to pass on the actual attraction as it was a little pricey. As we left the entrance to drive down the hill, we looked back and there was Rock Mountain behind us. We stopped along the side of the road and took some great pictures. Almost as good as being on top.
