We had just gotten in to Nashville (Brentwood) and searched trip advisor for a place to eat dinner that was close to our hotel... Local Taco was an excellent choice. Great little menu with interesting options and it was a great place to flop down after a 7 hour drive and just relax with a margarita and some interesting "street vendor" style food. We chose from an assortment of tacos and side items that were all delicious enough we were trying from each other's plates before the meal was finished. You can choose the number of tacos that you'd like and then get three different kinds are whatever combination of flavors you like. The Spicy Shrimp tacos were my favorite but the men in our group loved the Korean BBQ tacos. All thought the Fish taco was a little bland but we're from Texas so we like a lot of flavor! The Smoked Brisket taco was more of hit with us. The side item standout was something called Mexican tator tots and it's not what you're thinking... it's a homemade potato ball thing that was yummy and huge so one is all you'll really have room for with an order of tacos! We tried an assortment of salsa and everyone had their favorite and the queso was also very good. Service is a little sketchy, mostly what seemed to be college kids that aren't paying attention but what comes out of the kitchen was worth dealing with that inconvenience. Our server actually charged us a fraction of what we owed her on our first ticket so we had to calll her over and explain that she hadn't charged us enough... like I said, just kids but even so, we will definitely eat there again on a return trip to Nashville... the Spicy Shrimp tacos are still calling my name.

Stopped here on our way through and this restaurant was on our hotel's list. After checking them out on Trip Advisor, we headed there for dinner. The restaurant used to be a firehouse and has been in business for three years. Tables were full, but we did not have to wait on a Saturday night. We found the menu to be full of traditional Mexican dishes cooked with a twist. The beet salad was absolutely amazing. Even our beets-are-yucky-eater found it a pleasant surprise. The beets were crusted with toasted sunflower seeds and served "oreo-like" filled with a layer of smooth goat cheese between. Vinagrette and mixed greens with bacon and craisins completed the salad. Taco assortment was unusual and tasty. The Cuban corn side was also great. We are sorry we don't live in the area or this would be a favorite spot. Service was professional and not intrusive.

If you are looking for the hipster, yuppie version of Mexican tacos, enchiladas and fajitas then this is the place. Need to set your tastebuds for a variation, otherwise the food here will disappoint. Even the drinks were a different variation on the usual margaritas. (And pretty light on the tequila too.) The chips served with queso dip were stale and bland. The queso dip made up for them. I had the chicken fajitas that were flavored with lime. Dry and uninspired. My wife had a shrimp and spinach and a chicken enchilada that she thought were great! Has a nice area outside for summer dining. During the winter a gas fireplace provides some warmth inside and some pleasant ambiance. Service was just OK and it was a slow night. Prices were high for what was provided. But guess that to make it more desirable to the yuppies.
