“Wish we could have stayed longer!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 24, 2013

We pulled into the Frontier Cabins after a nearly 13 hour day of traveling in the car and the only complaint I have about this place is that we didn't have longer to stay and enjoy it! My son and I checked in at the front counter with a very friendly lady who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We got the keys and drove the car over to park next to our cabin. Although it looks small from the outside, our double queen cabin was very spacious. It was also spotless and smelled very clean. We unpacked, ate a late dinner, and I got to sit outside on the porch for about thirty minutes before falling into the very comfortable bed and falling asleep. Wonderful stay and I would highly recommend these cabins to anyone passing through Wall, SD. The location is perfect - we came from the east and hit the Badlands Scenic Byway (Hwy 240) which dumps right out into Wall. The cabins are VERY easy to get to and are just a couple of blocks from gas stations and a Subway restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a prairie view room to avoid looking out on the highway.

We found this little gem located just outside of the Badlands and close to Wall. The cabins were very clean, comfortable beds and the porch overlooking the meadow was a nice touch. (Be sure to ask for a cabin overlooking the meadow, otherwise, you're looking at the busy road,} There were tee-pees for the kids and a nice playground. There was also a fire pit to roast marshmallows at night. The cabins were nicely decorated with a western decor. The camp store that was loaded with souvenirs and was also the breakfast area in the morning. Breakfast was just "ok". The staff was very nice and accommodating. The only negative thing I can really say is the flies were in abundance, but that was just the area, not the resort. Overall, we would definitely recommend staying there. Oh yeah, there's a refrig in the cabin but ask for your free bag of ice for your cooler when leaving.

We really liked Frontier Cabins. The cabin was great. Like the cabin decor. The bed was huge and comfy. The room was clean. We spotted a few ant poison traps, but on the plus side -- no ants. I am glad my little kids never got into those, though. There were a lot of flies in the room, with a fly swatter provided. Another guest we talked to had flies in her room, too. I suspect they clean the cabins with the door open and maybe the flies get in that way. The playground was awesome. There was an outdoor bar area available that would be fun if you had a group of people. The hot tub was out of order. The shower in the morning was barely warm, even at 7:30 a.m. The breakfast was good, with a medium amount of selections: mini donuts, toast and bagels, biscuits and gravy, cereal, mini muffins, and danishes. We really liked our cabin and had just a few minor issues.

We stayed here at the beginning of June for 1 night and the cabin was good, clean and well appointed (facing the meadow). The breakfast was good with a fair selection of things.
Wall, itself was (as many have written) a disappointment but one of those 'has to be seen' places.

My family and two others completely enjoyed our stay in these clean, beautifully desinged cabins. An outdoor picnic area, play area for the kids, hot tub, and picnic tables are included on site. Breakfast was also included, with a decent selection of continental choices. The price was very fair for the quality of the stay. Why pay close to the same rate (or more) for a standard box motel room that is not as modern or clean, when you can have a cabin like these! They are located just a few miles from the entrance to Badlands N.P., right off of I-90, and close to everything in Wall.

Room Tip: Ask for a cabin facing the hayfield...nice view during the summer.

Great frontier cabins at a great price. Cabin was super clean and tastfully decorated. Cabins were close to each other but we were not bothered by noise. Would have liked to stay in these for my whole trip. Breakfast was tasty and kids liked the choices.

Room Tip: Cabins facing the open field have a great view.

Were on a 12 day road trip staying at new hotels each night and this place has been the best so far. It's so nice to stay at a non-chain hotel. The cabins are in fantastic shape which if were located in Aspen (which it easily could be based on the quality of furniture, towels, bedding etc) it would be $350/night. The rooms were large, with great attention to detail in all the furnishings and towels etc...The view from the rooms is beautiful and just as pretty as the pictures. The beds were comfy and my kids did not want to leave the room or the great park like play area they have. They have a neat outdoor party area with spa and hot tube which was very clean.

The owners of this place really went out of their way to give guest a unique experience and provide everything a traveler could need. For example, they provide a remote control to the AC/Heat so you can control the temperature from your bed!, very cool. They also have outside water faucets with hose so you can clean off your car or bike before the next days journey.

We stayed there when a group of Harley bikers was staying next door, and the manager was professional enough to make sure we knew the situation before taking our money. She assured us that she had a commitment from them to not crank up the bikes in the middle of the night and they didn't. I appreciated her honesty.

For breakfast they had a good selection of cereals, breads, yogurt, fruit, and sausage biscuits, waffles, etc... and you eat in a neat setting. Before we left, the manager offered us a complementary bag of ice for our cooler, nice touch again.

Lastly, the manager and the nice woman helping with breakfast were great. You could tell the manager and all the staff really work hard to keep this place running smoothly and take pride in their jobs and taking care of customers.

We were bummed we had to leave because we didn't get to enjoy the view from the room as much as we would have liked, but 1600 miles and 4 days made us move on. Great place, highly recommended!

Room Tip: ask if you can have a prairie view.
